Marvel Universe Super Hero Squad Galleries Updated

August 17th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Marvel, Marvel Universe, Super Hero Squad

While it’s not as big an update as I had hoped for, an update is an update. First off, for Marvel Universe we’ve got the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends Toys R Us 3-pack up, and Secret Wars Comic Packs 1-3. More importantly, we’ve got a few comparison shots, like Spider-Men from Wave 1 through Amazing Friends, Amazing Friends Iceman versus X-Men Origins Wolverine Iceman, and Wave 1 Wolverine versus Secret Wars Wolverine.

Following that, we’ve got Super Hero Squad Cruisers Wave 2 photos and comparisons. This wave continues the background Easter Eggs of Wave 1, showing off guest appearances by Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, the Baxter Building, and the latest Stark Industries armors. Comparisons of Wave 5 and Cruisers Wave 2 Thor (Hero Helicopter Thor has a more golden boot color) and Ultimate Captain America (which has a darker red shield) figures, while Repulsor Racer Iron Man goes up against the Fin Fang Foom/Mega Pack Iron Man (Repulsor Racer Iron Man has a green tint to the yellow armor and a darker shade of red), while Astonishing X-Men Cyclops has an obvious color change.

So there you go, hopefully that solves some burning repaint/repack questions and if not, hopefully it keeps you busy until the next time we update the gallery, which, by the way, recently celebrated its 30,000th image view (and that doesn’t count viewing gallery images through the wiki), and is nearing 5,000 pictures! As always, you can head over to the board for more discussion on Marvel Universe, Super Hero Squad, and all things in general.

Recent Super Hero Squad releases

Well in addition to the Super Hero Squad misc merc that’s appearing (like the recently discovered Super Hero Squad bopping bag), Super Hero Squad Wave 15 (Nova, Hulk, Wolverine, Silver Samurai, Iron Man, Spider-Woman, Vulture and Spider-Man) has started hitting stores (and thus, eBay as well) and so have the Jada Toys Touch Tech toys.

Spider-Man and Iron Man get Mobile Headquarters, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine get Big Rigs, and Captain America and Hulk join that trio with a hovercraft and tank (respectively).

Also, the Hero Helicopter and Repulsor Racer (aka, Wave 2 of the Super Hero Squad “Squad Cruisers”) are in stores now, so we’ll hopefully have pictures up soon.

And at the risk of being a broken record, discussion is, as always, welcome over on the Super Hero Squad board

Repulsor Racer is the Fourth SHS Vehicle

Super Hero Squad Wave 14 is shipping with new posters and while we haven’t had a chance to see all of them, we did get to see the Ultron/Kang/Doctor Doom versus the Avengers poster with an updated checklist on the back featuring: The Repulsor Racer vehicle! An apparent repaint of the Arachno-racer, it features a blue-costumed Astonishing X-Men Cyclops and an Iron Man figure. We hope to get pictures up, and a full look at whatever other posters there may be, this evening. In the meantime, go discuss over on the board

SHS Vehicles in the Gallery

The Super Hero Squad Vehicles Wave 1 are now in the gallery as well. While the repaints may not win over the casual collector, we’ve got comparison shots for the hardcore completist. The Spider-Men, the Things, the Captain Americas, and the subtlest of the bunch, Purple Wolverine and Blue Wolverine. Plus, the artwork easter eggs, like the Mary Jane calendar are just great fun.

Super Hero Squad Vehicles Wave 1

While we’re still finishing up the photos for Super Hero Squad Vehicles Wave 1, we thought we’d run through what’s different between the figures and their original versions. While Arachno-Roadster Spider-Man is a comic-styled (ie, black web) version of the Spider-Man/Lizard figure, while Thing is a lighter version of the Thing/Mole Man version. The Off-Road Avenger Captain America is a darker blue than Cable/Captain America, but not metallic like Avengers Assemble Captain America. Wolverine on the other hand, is a metallic purple instead of the metallic blue from Wolverine/Hulk and if that doesn’t do it for you, there’s always the stamp at the bottom of the foot. So like I said, pictures will be coming soon but in the meantime, hardcore completists may not want to pass up these easy-to-mistake-for-repack figures.

Target has the first promo shots of the Super Hero Squad Vehicles Arachno Roadster and the Off-Road Avenger. No word on an official release yet, but hopefully we’ll get news soon.

Arachno Racer and Off-Road Avenger pictures

Marvelousnews has pictures of the upcoming Super Hero Squad vehicles (this go-round featuring two figures and one vehicle, as opposed to the earlier Spider-Man vehicles). Off-Road Avenger is here and features Captain America and Wolverine repacks, while the Arachno-Racer is here with what look like Thing (from the Mole Man 2-Pack) and Spider-Man repacks.

Edit 1/31/09 – I just realized that the Spidey vehicle is now called the Arachno Roadster, and not the Arachno Racer.
