The Rumor Buster on Twitter
We did it. Finally, facing peer pressure and because we wanted to be like the cool kids, we joined twitter. The Rumor Buster content on Twitter is going to be more or less what you see on the front page, but just as the Rumor Buster message board breaks news faster than we can up it up here, the Twitter feed may get things up a little quicker than the front page, along with odds and ends you wouldn’t normally find here on the front page, such as the #movieswithBatman hashtag, a what if list of famous movies, with Batman (including far too many No Country for Batman suggestions), or a link to Transformers 3 set photos. So head on over to The Rumor Buster on Twitter and help show us what all the fuss is about.
Transformers: Good News/Bad News
First, the bad news… it looks like Robot Heroes may have joined Adventure Heroes, M-Pire and Toy Box Heroes in the Hasbro Heroes graveyard. Normanb258 shared this over on the message board but apparently Parry Game Preserve asked a very delicate question regarding Robot Heroes, and got a sad answer:
Preserve: Do you plan to continue the Robot Heroes line beyond the current movie figures?
Hasbro: We do not have any plans to continue with this expression of Transformers past the ROTF line.
So now you want good news? Hasbro has released pictures of some upcoming Transformers figures and we’ve got them over in the Transformers Gallery. One warning for those that don’t collect the line, Rampage may make you want to start. Here’s the rundown:
Robot Heroes Gallery Update (Revenge of the Fallen Wave 2)
Maybe Clanure didn’t think it was newsworthy, but you can see his awesome photos of the Revenge of the Fallen Wave 2 Robot Heroes Jolt/Ravage and Ironhide/Mixmaster packs over in the gallery. You can always join the Robot Heroes and Transformers discussion over on the board.
G.I. Joe’s Potential Return to TV
Hasbro and Discovery Communications are apparently doing a handshake that results in a joint media venture, that will itself result in a TV channel and website devoted to programming. What kind of programming?
New programming will be based on brands such as ROMPER ROOM, TRIVIAL PURSUIT, SCRABBLE, CRANIUM, MY LITTLE PONY, G.I. JOE, GAME OF LIFE, TONKA and TRANSFORMERS, among many others. The TV network and online presence also will include content from Discovery’s extensive library of award-winning children’s educational programming, such as BINDI THE JUNGLE GIRL, ENDURANCE, TUTENSTEIN, HI-5, FLIGHT 29 DOWN and PEEP AND THE BIG WIDE WORLD, as well as programming from third-party producers.
and further down the article:
Creative work will start in the next few months beginning with early stage development for properties including ROMPER ROOM, TONKA, G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS and MY LITTLE PONY. The creative team will have the capability to produce animated, live-action, and game show programming as well as content designed for digital and mobile extensions.
Given that Discovery Kids is already on many cable packages and airs Discovery’s “extensive” line of programming, it’ll be interesting to see whether this new network is in addition to, or in place of, Discovery Kids. Whatever happens, at least this means Marvel may have a back-up network if Cartoon Network abuses the Super Hero Squad show as badly as it did Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes. Hopefully this “new programming” based on brands such as G.I. Joe and Transformers will be worth the wait!
