Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions – Chronicles no more?

March 17th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in Video Games

Big news hitting the internet today is that Activision’s new Spider-Man game will be called Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. In less reported news, the Spider-Man: Chronicles game Mark Hoffmeier had listed on his LinkedIn page, and which we mentioned way back in December 2009, was removed at some unknown point in time. Hopefully May’s Gamepro magazine will explain whether it’s just a name change.

He Hungers…

As I’m sure many people are aware, MU wave 6 has been hitting shelves all around the nation. What you may not be aware of is that Hasbro hid (in plain sight) a teaser of sorts on the cardback for House of M Spider-Man (aka Series 2 Figure 001). If you were lucky enough to look carefully at the cardback of Spider-Man, then you may already know what I’m talking about. For those of you who just ripped open your figure without looking very close at the cardback, let me explain.

Spider-Man cardback

Spider-Man cardback

Here’s the cardback. Doesn’t look too out of the ordinary on first glance, but if you look in the upper right corner where it says the figure number…

He hungers...

He hungers...

You can clearly see that above the figure number it says “he hungers…”. I checked all the other figures for wave 6 and Spider-Man was the only one that said this!

Now, I know that here at The Rumor Buster we’re not supposed to start or help spread rumors…but no one said anything about healthy speculation.

So, let’s speculate. Now, we know that there is a Galactus figure that Hasbro is planning to release which is 19″ tall and will have electronics in it. We know this because at the Hasbro Marvel panel at SDCC ’09 the Hasbro reps said, “…it will have electronics in it so you’ll be able to hear your Galactus speak.” Another panelist then promptly said, “I hunger…” for the Galactus figure.

The cardback clearly says “he hungers…” which leads me think that they’re alluding to Galactus (since he is famously known for being hungry) with this cryptic message. When asked (in various Q&As) about the Galactus figure shown at Comic-Con, Hasbro has been very guarded about its details.

So, do you think that Galactus will be released sometime this year? If so, will he be in a normal Gigantic Battles pack or will he be some sort of exclusive? Whatever your opinion, come talk about it on the board!

Spider-Man’s 3 3/4 Figures Carded and Hi-Res

October 27th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Marvel Universe

Marvelousnews has press shots of the upcoming 3 3/4 Spider-Man figures. The good news? A 3.75 inch Venom and some sort-of-cool web effects to give your Spider-Men. The bad (for some)? 6 of the 8 figures are Spider-Man, ball hips, and they come with all manner of action features. Head over to the board to discuss.

There’s no Super Hero Squad related questions in the latest round of Q&As to hit the web, but there are some Marvel Universe and 3.75 inch figure questions. Ignoring all the questions about Galactus (which were answered with the usual coy playfulness), here’s the takeaway points:

1) The 3.75 inch Spider-Man figures are launching May 1. Kastor’s Korner and Cool Toy Review both snagged that answer.

2) The Fwoosh reports that the response to Nick Fury was “tremendous”, and Hasbro’s looking at other possible promotional programs.
3) And apparently Hasbro’s also pleased with the response to comic packs and plans to “continue offering theme team packs as well as items like the comic packs moving forward” according to Action Figure Pics.

Super Hero Squad Wave 16 for Preorder!

August 24th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Super Hero Squad

Entertainment Earth has Wave 16 of the Super Hero Squad up for pre-order, scheduled for an October release! And Wave 16, revision 1, follows in November. There’s some peculiarities about these listings though, as they apparently throw out the long established pattern of 4 new sets per Wave. Greater availability of some back catalog figures? Possibly. Oh, and hopefully soon we’ll find out why the Wave 16 listings include a Wolverine (Black) with Silver Samurai, while Wave 15 lists the Wolverine (Yellow and Blue) that we’ve already seen released.

The case packs are as follows:

Wave 16

1x Captain America & Red Skull
1x Spider-Man & Green Goblin
1x Spider-Man & Vulture
1x Iron Man & Spider-Woman
2x Wolverine (Black) & Silver Samurai
3x Iron Man & War Machine
3x Spider-Man & Moonknight

Wave 16, Revision 1

1x Ghost Rider & Motorcycle
1x Wolverine & the Hand
1x “Ben Rielly” Spider-Man & Bullseye
1x Spider-Man & Green Goblin
1x Black Spider-Man & Iron Fist
1x Spider-Man & Vulture
1x Hulk & Nova
1x Iron Man & Spider-Woman
1x Wolverine (Black) & Silver Samurai
2x Iron Man & War Machine
1x Spider-Man & Moonknight
