More Super Hero Squad Variants
As you know we’re always looking out for new Super Hero Squad figures, and recently there’s been a flurry of potentially new figures coming from Bluesduck on eBay. He’s been a reputable seller, and there’s no indication that these figures are customs, but who knows what, if any, figures will get released. First there’s “Halloween pants Hulk”, then blue Ghost Rider and the gold Iron Men, a black and orange Spider-Man, and most recently, a white and black Venom (a la Anti-Venom, though bulky, and using the Super Hero Squad Venom sculpt). And the seller also has the drop on upcoming figures like Hercules, Odin, the Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman/Arachne/Madame Web figure, the mysterious Black Surfer and some rare figures like Nighthawk, and Gargoyle.
Think adds some insight into possible upcoming Super Hero Squad packs so looks like we might be in for some fun times ahead. Less fun, if you hate repaints, but still, it’s interesting to see the future and like always, you read it here first. Well, technically on the message board first, but still.
Super Hero Squad Wave 21 Pictures
jemilynne has good news for everyone, posting a clip from this month’s Previews showing the Super Hero Squad Wave 21 figures. Thor/Hercules, Iron Man/Tiger Shark, Iron Man/Red Hulk, Spider-Man/Spider-Woman, Spider-Man/Green Goblin.
Notable absences? No Captain Americas, Wolverines, or X-Men related characters whatsoever. There’s also no Fantastic Four characters, but they’ve been missing for some time. 30% of the figures are new sculpts, and 40% are new characters, even if you have two repaints. At least it’s fresh!
Super Hero Squad Wave 20 Pictures
Hasbro has forwarded official pictures of Super Hero Squad Wave 20 (Deadpool and Taskmaster, Spider-Man and Ronan, and Wolverine and Juggernaut), along with Mystique and the Team X Wolverine from Marvel Universe Wave 10, and so they are currently up in the Hasbro gallery. Never before have we seen so many guns, swords and otherwise fine weapons of destruction in such a small sample of toys! It’s like the Blade/Punisher 2-pack all over again!
More Super Hero Squad Variant Covers
Last year Marvel put out a variety of variant covers for their mainstream books featuring Super Hero Squad Show recreations of classic cover moments and it looks like this year they’re doing it again with:
So while the choice of books may be… uhm… interesting (Namor versus underwater vampires? Daredevil, which is in the middle of a major crossover where he and his ninja cohorts murder, abduct and engage the dark arts in soul-bending resurrections), presumably the covers, like last years’, also double as the title cards for the Super Hero Squad Show episodes. The covers shown all seem to coincide with what we already know about the upcoming season, including Namor’s Invaders cover featuring Bucky, Torch and Toro; Iron Man’s cover with Nebula and Annihilus; Daredevil’s Daredevil-less cover where Scarlet Witch faces down Thanos; and the Avengers cover featuring Hercules.
Super Hero Squad Collector’s Pack 4 Released
Bigredmachine17 reports that the Super Hero Squad Collector’s Pack 4, featuring Loki, Thor, Enchantress, Iron Man, Hulk and the “savage Frost Giant” is out in the wild. There’s already at least one on eBay, at an enormous ransom, but now is as good a time as any to start checking your Toys R Us stores!
Marvel and DC DVD Round-Up!
Both Marvel and DC are hitting DVD shelves hard with new and upcoming releases so we thought we’d do a little round-up of today’s news.
First off, TV Shows on DVD has the box art for the Super Hero Squad Show second volume DVD, coming out on November 9, 2010. Target shoppers know that Target has an in-store exclusive set out right now with the complete first 13 episodes of the series so that might save you some money in the long run.
Later in November, November 30th to be exact, you can pick up the Iron Man Extremis motion comic from Marvel Knights Animation and Shout! Factory.
If motion comics are your thing, The Trades has a DVD review of the Astonishing X-Men: Gifted, featuring the initial Breakworld storyline from Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men run. September 30th is the release date for that motion comic.
If you don’t feel like waiting, you can grab Batman: Brave and the Bold Season 1, volume 1, collecting the first 13 episodes on 2 DVDs and released today.
And of course, you can also complete your collection of Wolverine and the X-Men (assuming you didn’t hold out for a US release of the season set, or import one from Canada) with volume 6, also released today.
As always, head on over to the message board to discuss.
