Raining and Pouring: New Release Maniau
It seems like no matter what toy line you’re into, there’s been a recent release to make you happy. First off, starting with Scifigenre’s now sold out listing of Super Hero Squad Wolverine’s X-Cutioner’s Song and Wolverine Evolutions set (which are still available on sites like Entertainment Earth and Big Bad Toy Store if you head over), and coupled with sightings of Wave 15 at Walmarts and Targets all over, (and in stock at Toywiz), Super Hero Squad fans have plenty to enjoy.
Marvel Universe fans will note that Wave 2 of Secret Wars comic packs, including Cyclops, Magneto and the Julia Carpenter (Arachne) Spider-Woman are popping up, with Big Bad Toy Store featuring the Cyclops/Hulk and Spider-Man/Magneto sets currently in stock. They’ve also got cases of Wave 4, featuring the new Colossus, in stock.
Then Brave and the Bold Action League fans will note that Wave 2 of the 2-packs is out so collectors can gobble up Batman paired with Metamorpho, B’wanna Beast and Ocean Master, or the Green Arrow/Sportsmaster 2-pack. We snagged all four at Target, so hopefully photos will be up this Saturday.
SHS Secret Invasion, Secret Wars, CP3 in the Gallery
Another major gallery update has just been completed! The good news is the gallery has passed 35,000 views and with 4850 images, we’ll be breaking the 5,000 image barrier soon. The better news is what we just put up!
Collector’s Pack 3 is up first, and includes Falcon comparisons, Emma Frost comparisons and a comparison of the Spider-Man/Scorpion, Spider-Man/Daredevil and CP3 Spider-Man figures.
Pictures of the Repulsor Racer and Hero Helicopter are up too, including a demonstration of some of the Hero Helicopter’s features.
But you’re a discriminating reader and you demand more! Secret Invasion and Secret Wars are now in the gallery too. Thrill to the Hawkeye comparison shot! Wondering what’s different between Wave 1, Winter Soldier and Secret Wars Captain Americas? Curious to see Doctor Strange astrally project? Which Skrull Soldier is tougher? What’s different between the Collector’s Pack 3 Mr. Fantastic, Secret Invasion Reed, and the unreleased Mega Pack Wave 4 Mr. Fantastic? Of course, you can always just enjoy a great new Spider-Man sculpt, or the Wrecker.
And just for fun, here’s a taste of the Ultimate Hulk/Ultimate Wolverine mega-pack that never was, and an Ultimate Universe group shot.
Phew. And of course, discussion is always welcome on the message board.
Marvel Universe Super Hero Squad Galleries Updated
While it’s not as big an update as I had hoped for, an update is an update. First off, for Marvel Universe we’ve got the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends Toys R Us 3-pack up, and Secret Wars Comic Packs 1-3. More importantly, we’ve got a few comparison shots, like Spider-Men from Wave 1 through Amazing Friends, Amazing Friends Iceman versus X-Men Origins Wolverine Iceman, and Wave 1 Wolverine versus Secret Wars Wolverine.
Following that, we’ve got Super Hero Squad Cruisers Wave 2 photos and comparisons. This wave continues the background Easter Eggs of Wave 1, showing off guest appearances by Silver Surfer, Spider-Man, the Baxter Building, and the latest Stark Industries armors. Comparisons of Wave 5 and Cruisers Wave 2 Thor (Hero Helicopter Thor has a more golden boot color) and Ultimate Captain America (which has a darker red shield) figures, while Repulsor Racer Iron Man goes up against the Fin Fang Foom/Mega Pack Iron Man (Repulsor Racer Iron Man has a green tint to the yellow armor and a darker shade of red), while Astonishing X-Men Cyclops has an obvious color change.
So there you go, hopefully that solves some burning repaint/repack questions and if not, hopefully it keeps you busy until the next time we update the gallery, which, by the way, recently celebrated its 30,000th image view (and that doesn’t count viewing gallery images through the wiki), and is nearing 5,000 pictures! As always, you can head over to the board for more discussion on Marvel Universe, Super Hero Squad, and all things in general.
Secret Invasion and Secret Wars Boxed Pictures
Clanure, like many other board members, have already received their Super Hero Squad Secret Invasion and Secret Wars sets, but he had the self control to keep the set in boxes (with price tags intact). I still plan to tear into Wrecker, Hawkeye, Spider-Man, Mister Fantastic and the new Skrull Warrior as soon as I can. Check out Galactus in the background of the Secret Wars box! You can always discuss this on the Super Hero Squad message board. And remember everybody, when you meet someone that works for Hasbro, ask them why two full waves of Super Hero Squad 4-packs have been released internationally while leaving US collectors high and dry.

Another SDCC Round-Up
The toy news has basically dried up, but there’s still a few things we haven’t pointed out yet, like the 19 inch Marvel Universe Gigantic Battles Galactus figure, and Marvelousnews’s rundown of the Hasbro panel includes the possibility of Alpha Flight and more Ultimates in the Marvel Universe, the announcement that 2010 will include figure stands, the Marvel Universe theme will shift from Nick Fury to Osborne and Hammer, art announcements for the 2010 figures (Mike Deodato) and the Secret Wars figures (Bob Layton).
Minimates news includes Spider-Woman (Julia Carpenter) and Molecule Man as a TRU two pack along with an AFX exclusive set of First Class X-Men (to go along with the First Class Angel already shown.)
