Super Hero Squad Kraven in 2010
ActionFigs.com has finally cracked the nut that is Hasbro and convinced them to reveal that Kraven is on the Super Hero Squad slate for Fall 2010. Additionally, they had some good news about the unreleased four packs, or at least the figures in those packs:
ActionFigs: Any updates on the Super Hero Squad 4-Packs that weren’t released in the United States? Winter Soldier Saga, Spider-Man Saves The Day, The New Fantastic Four, The Defenders, Secret Invasion Begins, and Secret Wars. There’s a lot of figures in those boxed sets that we’ve been wanting for a long time to fill out teams.
Hasbro: Look for these figures in our 2010 2-pack lineup…
Beast mentioned this over on the board, so head on over there to discuss this great news.
Marvel Universe News Roundup
There’s no Super Hero Squad related questions in the latest round of Q&As to hit the web, but there are some Marvel Universe and 3.75 inch figure questions. Ignoring all the questions about Galactus (which were answered with the usual coy playfulness), here’s the takeaway points:
1) The 3.75 inch Spider-Man figures are launching May 1. Kastor’s Korner and Cool Toy Review both snagged that answer.
2) The Fwoosh reports that the response to Nick Fury was “tremendous”, and Hasbro’s looking at other possible promotional programs.
3) And apparently Hasbro’s also pleased with the response to comic packs and plans to “continue offering theme team packs as well as items like the comic packs moving forward” according to Action Figure Pics.
Arsenal is 23, and Mallah in Wal-Mart
Action Figure Insider has a new Mattel Q&A up which answers not one, but two burning questions: Who is Figure 23, and what’s the deal with Mallah:
Q6: DCIH: What is figure #23 for in Infinite Heroes and why have we not seen it at retail yet?
A6: Figure #23 is a single carded version of Arsenal who will first be in the upcoming Mallah’s Revenge 6 pack this fall at Wal-Mart.
So no word yet whether or not Mallah is indeed (although it wouldn’t be surprising) the Wal-Mart Titans pack talked about back in mid-April, but if it is I can’t wait to see what Doomsday and OMAC Attack end up being!
As always, you can check out our Infinite Heroes Checklist, the Infinite Heroes Visual Checklist. In related news, we’ve also recently updated the Marvel Universe checklist with the Wave 4 figure numbers and the Marvel Universe Release Order visual checklist.
Misadventures in Q&As
One problems with Q&As is that sometimes you end up getting a question answered with an obvious lie. For one example, let’s look at this Cool Toy Review Q&A:
Cool Toy Review: At one of the recent conventions you had mentioned that you are looking at other ways to release Hal Jordan in the Justice League line, any updates yet?
Mattel: Not yet, but we are talking to DC about different possible ways to release a Hal.
And then a few hours later Cool Toy Review puts out the list of Mattel SDCC exclusives including:
Justice League Unlimited Green Lantern Origins Three Pack
“At long last Hal Jordan will be joining Mattel’s Justice League Unlimited collection. In this pack, you can get not only Hal Jordan (in his trademark Ferris Aircraft flight suit) but also his predecessor Abin Sur and his mentor/arch enemy Sinestro both in different versions of their Green Lantern uniforms. Plus, as an added bonus, for the first time in the JLU line, all of the heads in this pack are swappable, letting you play out Hal’s transformation from Test Pilot to Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814! Available on MattyCollector.com after the show.”
Geez Mattel, you couldn’t just say “we hope to have details soon” or “we love Hal and hope to get him to fans soon”? Oh, and in other news from the Q&A, He-Ro is coming as an SDCC exclusive for the Masters of the Universe Classics line, all those major characters missing from Infinite Heroes (Hawkgirl, Aquaman, Riddler, Red Tornado) are planned for release “in time”, and Mattel says they plan to re-do the articulation on previously released Infinite Heroes figures “in time”. As for the big Super Friends figures… the future looks bleak because when asked if there will be figures beyond Cyborg (specifically Joker and Robin, and not to mention the Hawkman they’ve previously said they were going to re-release without the lollipop-looking mace) they say:
Mattel: At this point the Super Friends line will be continuing as an Imaginex line in the Fisher Price aisle. We know there are a lot of adult collectors out there looking to make a larger 6” collection, but right now, our 6” line will be focused on the DC Universe Classics style. At the end of the day we have a limit on the number of figures we can do and we have some new exciting styles we are working on which we hope fans will be just as excited about.
In other Q&As, they reiterate their desire for better articulation and more accessories in the Infinite Heroes Line at Kastor’s Korner, and the revisiting previously released Infinite Heroes figures with better articulation is also asked at Poe Ghostals. On the plus side, pretty nice pictures of He-Ro and the Anti-Monitor are up at the Mattycollector Facebook page
Actionfigs.com March Q&A
Wwwyzerd pointed us to the ActionFigs.com March Hasbro Q&A which is rife with Marvel Universe news. Green trunks on the Invaders Namor and a bunch of general teases that San Diego Comic Con is going to have some big Marvel Universe news.
Edit: And what the heck, Toy Ark has a rundown of various other Q&As from around the net. All the Super Hero Squad 4-packs are “temporarily on hold. However, you can bet with all the new news on Super Hero Squad (Cartoon Network in Fall 2009) that we’ll find a place for them.” Marvel Universe 3-Packs in September/October, and comic packs in August. No plans for figures based on older movies in the near future. And yes, every Q&A must ask about Marvel Universe stands.
Newsclips 03/18/09
We’re hard at work on more surprises for everyone, so we’re just going to do a quick news round-up tonight.
First off, Action Figure Insider has a March Hasbro Q&A. Highlights? Hasbro confirms Ultimate Hulk, City in Crisis and Winter Soldier will be released. Lowlights? They say “the timing is not yet confirmed.” It doesn’t take a top-secret decoder ring to know that means it’ll be a while.
Marvelousnews’s March Q&A brings us a look at the Marvel Universe Wave 5 Electro and says that the Nick Fury mail-away is still being finalized, with details “coming soon”. Figure stands, on the other hand, not yet.
And everyone is posting Hasbro’s promotional shots for Marvel Universe Wave 3, so we’ll give this link to Cool Toy Review.
And a DC Characters without Infinite Heroes Figures page has gone up to compliment the Marvel Characters Without Super Hero Squad Figures page that board user Alamo started back in February.
And just a reminder, if anyone else wants to take a cue from Alamo and start a “_____ characters not in ______ toyline” page on the wiki, try to stick to major characters (we love Thena of the Eternals too, but she’s one of the least likely characters to get an action figure in any line) and to currently ongoing toy lines because, for better or worse, Deadpool will almost assuredly never get a 1980′s Mattel Secret Wars figure.
Cool Toy Review’s December Hasbro Q&A
And another Q&A, this one from Cool Toy Review teases some upcoming Super Hero Squad figures:
Cool Toy Review: The Super Hero Squad line is still very popular, and I can’t wait to see what characters get the cute & cuddly treatment next. Any hints of who is on deck?
Hasbro: How about this – a current Thunderbolt and a former Avenger who’s status was active on both coasts. Discuss amongst yourselves.
So let the speculation commence! Avengers active on both coasts? Tigra, Scarlet Witch, the previously teased Wonder Man. Current Thunderbolts? Pre-Dark Reign or post? Is that counting the Green Goblin from City in Crisis?
