King Randor’s Premiere
Mattycollector.com’s facebook page has been updated with King Randor and his Count Marzo-including biography. Apparently, Randor’s father disappeared, leading to his eventual roll as king, and what exactly were the Count Marzo uprisings? As always, more pieces of this new Mythology are developing with each card back.

Another run down of some news briefs… first off, Marvel’s Facebook page has new Super Hero Squad Show images. Of course, if you run your mouse over the pictures, you’ll get all kinds of interesting information, such as, scrolling over the thumbnails of an Iron Man scene, you’ll see “Who is the original creator of Dr. Doom?” Whether that means there’s a new origin story for Doom, we’ll hopefully find out next week when th show premieres.
Meanwhile, Actionfigpics.com is reporting that the Masters of the Universe Classics Moss Man figure will get spot flocking.
And TV Shows on DVD says that Justice League complete series will have season 1 in fullscreen, Season 2 in widescreen, and the JLU episodes in anamorphic widescreen.
Newsclips 09/01/09
We’re going to do a quick news round up since there’s a lot of little things out there.
First, Pendragon’s Post has a September Q&A where Mattel says there will be at least one New Adventures of He-Man figure incorporated into the Masters of the Universe Classics line in 2010.
OAFE has good and bad news for fans of the Brave and the Bold Action figures… good news? They’ll “get to” females in the Action League line (yay!), but that “females” just aren’t popular enough with kids to get 5 inch treatment (boo!). Contact information is:

And just to help you out further, here’s a draft letter to help you get started:
Dear Mattel;
I am a [parent of a young collector/young collector], and I found your recent comments regarding female action figures to be distasteful and inaccurate. [My children/I] have greatly enjoyed the recent Brave and the Bold episodes, but the lack of a [Fire/Katana/Black Canary/Catwoman/Jewelee] action figure is disappointing. [I/he/she] would love to be able to act out scenes from that episode. [My child/I] enjoy many aspects of the DC Universe, including its many strong, women. I understand that your company considers female characters to be poor sellers, but [We/I routinely purchase female figures from your other toy lines and greatly enjoy them/already avoid Hasbro's Iron Man/Spectacular Spider-Man/Wolverine line because they don't treat their female characters with respect/have enjoyed the female figures in your JLU line and wish to enjoy similar characters in the Brave and the Bold style]. Please reconsider your decision.

So there you go, a few pieces of news to tide you over until the next big story breaks!
Newsclips 08/08/09
Time for another news roundup. First off, a complete collected Superman The Animated Series is in the works for November 24, at a bargain price of almost $54. Of course, by then you’ll probably already have the November 3 release of Wolverine and the X-Men Vol. 3, or the box set collecting all three volumes with a “collectible laser cell”
Super Hero Squad comic strip writer Paul Tobin is continuing Marvel’s recent Secret Wars love with Spider-Man & The Secret Wars, a behind the scenes sort of look at what exactly went down on Battleworld between the various scenes shown in the original series. That’s just one of the many new Marvel reveals at Chicaco Comic Con 2009.
In action figure news, apparently there’s quite the debate going on about how best to flock the Masters of the Universe Classics Moss-Man.
News Round-up
We’ve been busy behind the scenes, but here’s a brief news round-up to keep everyone entertained in the meantime…
First off, Clanure has updated the gallery and the wiki with the Rise of Cobra Wave 2 Combat Heroes. For those keeping track, there’s now over 400 exclusive Combat Heroes pictures in the gallery, covering everything from Real American Heroes wave 1, the movie singles, and even the 5-packs!
In totally unrelated news, Masters of the Universe He-Man and Skeletor are coming back in December, while carded pictures of Teela and Zodak provide a little more insight into the ever developing new Masters of the Universe Chronology.
Cool Toy Review has pictures of the upcoming X-Men First Class and original X-Factor Minimates.
And finally, after almost a two month break, the Super Hero Squad daily strips appear to be returning!
MOTUC SDCC 2009 News

Newsclips 04/15/09
Happy Sinking of the Titanic Day to any that celebrate! For the rest of us, let’s take this slow time between toy releases to do another edition of newsclips!
First, some of you may have noticed that we’re slowly adding to our collection of checklists over on the Wiki. Recent additions include Hasbro’s Marvel Attacktix, and Toy Biz’s long-dead but not forgotten X-Men Evolution figures (and their related merchandise like the maquettes, fast food premiums and unreleased toys. Feel free to adopt one of the many abandoned toy lines out there and help with a checklist!
Second, Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics Mer-Man sold out in under an hour. Didn’t get one? You and a bunch of other angry folks over on the Matty Collector Facebook page insisting that Mattel engaged in some kind of insidious geographic preference. Scrolling through the messages, you’ll see allegations of customer service telling international customers the wrong time zone, European shipments getting error figures they can’t return and other accusations of geocentrism. Mattel has yet to officially address the situation, other than their repeated explanations that more Mer-Men are on the way. As for the allegations, even US buyers had issues with the site, including its notoriously buggy Digital River ordering system. While you’d think being there as soon as the Add To Cart button came up would guarantee a slot, the servers froze and buckled for all of us. As for allegations of double charging (did you hit the reload button when you thought the server/your order wasn’t going through?) and of a shopping cart zero-loop (your shopping cart keeps emptying), it may be evil pro-US-ness, but it may also just be the same poor website that locks up and has numerous bugs reported every MOTUC release day. Hopefully Mattel will get the bugs fixed soon, but in the meantime, hopefully they address the rampant allegations and accusations.
In happier news, Hasbrotoyshop continues business as usual (perhaps in part to never revealing when it’s going to add new product, although that would just make MOTUC collectors even more upset, but a search for “Squad” will reveal that the Hulk/Abomination, Hulk/Silver Savage, and Wolverine/Psylocke sets are going for $4.99, while the Genius of Tony Stark, and Crimson Dynamo Attacks sets are now $7.99, the Sand Pit Standoff is $5.99, the Iron Man Hall of Armor is down to $8.99, Gamma Lab is at $19.99, and the first Collector’s Pack is down to $17.99.
Did we miss some news? Most likely! Tell us about it on the board.
