Batman Brave and the Bold DVD News
TV Shows On DVD has an article and box art of the first Batman Brave and the Bold DVD collection, featuring 4 episodes for $15. And to top it off, there’s also news of a volume 2 and 3.
In related news, Marvel Animation Age has some animation news, specifically a brief episode guide for the upcoming Iron Man Armored Adventures series. Check it out, but be prepared for spoilers if you do!
Newsclips 04/27/09
While we’re still waiting for news from our favorite lines (Super Hero Squad and related toys, Marvel Universe, Infinite Heroes), here’s another set of newsclips.
First off, Are you a fan of Todd McFarlane’s toy line and all the Spawn-related, Major League Baseball, fantasy Dragons and media tie-in figures? Lying in the Gutters has the bad news about production restructuring. Employees at other toy companies shouldn’t laugh… shifting to full body scans, digital sculpting and 3D printing will shed more blood before they’re done.
In an unfortunately named game, you can now play Iron Man in Iron Man Armored Popper. The gameplay is traditional Bust-A-Move (or Snood-like for some), but it’s the name that makes it.
And continuing with the slow roll-out of Super Friends episodes, TV Shows On DVD say that come August we’ll get 24 “lost episodes” on DVD for the first time.
Newsclips 04/23/09
Marvel.com has concept art and sketches up for the upcoming Iron Man Armored Adventures animated series. And what’s that? Hulk, Leader, Rick Jones and Fin Fang Foom will be guest starring in upcoming episodes?
Speaking of Iron Man, Terrence Howard is still angry about being replaced as War Machine.
And apparently we have Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen to blame for the Comic Sans font according to the Wall Street Journal.
Don’t forget that Wolverine and the X-Men is out on DVD (at least the first three episodes) as of this past Tuesday!
Figures.com has photos too!
Figures.com has a collection of the Hasbro press photos. Of interest are the Super Hero Squad Danger Room, the Iron Man Armored Adventures Mandarin and Crimson Dynamo figures, up-close with the Mobile Command Center, the Super Hero Squad mini-vehicles, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine Deluxe figures, which suggest that Blob “launches” Sabretooth, and shows a spiffy Weapon X chamber, while Deadpool gets a giant honking cannon, and some of the upcoming Super Hero Squad sets like Battling the Brotherhood, The Hunt for Mr. Sinister.
Handful of Heroes, Marvel Heroes, and Super Hero Squad Super Battle Game
Cool Toy Review has photos of Toyfair up, and tons of new things are displayed. First, better shots of Bishop, Iron Man 2020 and other Super Hero Squad figures. Second, our first look at the Super Hero Squad Super Battle game, featuring Sabretooth and Wolverine figures in a 3d battle arena.
Next is the Marvel Heroes figures, two-packs of heroes like Punisher and Daredevil, Cyclops and Beast, and Spider-Man and Green Goblin (two varieties of the packs: Team Up for pairings, and Face Off for battles). Although we haven’t seen the exact proportions, they look to be a little smaller (given perspective and all that) than the Marvel Universe figures.
The animated Iron Man Armored Adventures 3 3/4 inch figures were also shown, featuring Iron Man, and apparently the redesigned Mandarin, along with Sabretooth and Blob 3 3/4 figures.
And the Handful of Heroes are revealed! M.U.S.C.L.E. styled (small figures, each having one color, secret figures not visible from the packaging) depictions of various Marvel characters. Hopefully over the week, we’ll get more information, such as
(1) does 120 figures mean 120 different figures, 120 different figures, if you count certain figures getting multiple colors or 120 figures, but 30 of those are Spider-Man poses?
(2) are all the figures having equal distribution, or are there certain figures that will be more rare tahn others
(3) are the packs going to be individually numbered like Ultimate M.U.S.C.L.E. was, so you know getting packs 1 through X means a full set or is it a true random lot and you simply have to buy, buy and buy to get all the figures?
I’m sure we can come up with additional questions, but lets hope more information comes before we have to ask those questions!
