Not much meat on the bones of these answers unfortunately, but it’s worth noting that a Batman the Brave and the Bold set featuring Batman and Superman double teaming a bad guy has shown up at Walmart so there’s at least a little life in the line.

1) There’ve been reports of DC Universe Action League figures getting pretty visible scuffing from minor play and contact. Is Mattel looking into ways to minimize “battle damage”?

We are always working on quality control and ways to improve figures and products.

2) Thanks to the Batman Brave and the Bold line, DC Universe Action League has inherited some bat-related vehicles but since this line is a great tour of the DC Universe how likely are vehicles and playsets for this line?

At this point we don’t have plans to release any of the B&TB vehicles in the Action League DCU line, but you never know what the future will bring!

3) Batman Brave and the Bold Total Armor figures are hitting stores now, so can fans and collectors expect any new characters?

You’ll just need to wait for NYTF to find out!

4) Now that the Infinite Heroes line is gone, can you tell us what figures were planned for Figure 41, Figure 44, and Figure 50? Even if we’ll never see them, it’d be nice to learn what we missed!

We don’t have this list handy, but we’ll see if we can dig it up with our licensor partner.

5) With Toy Fare coming up, you’re probably going to keep your cards close to your chest, but is it safe to say that if a character is on the packaging for DC Universe Action League (Kilowog, Guardian, Martian Manhunter) they’ve got a better than average chance of making it into the line?

Not always. There are many times when figures wind up on packaging and don’t always make it out there. Many times sales logistics and orders will dictate production and not every figure we work on always makes it to shelf.

I suppose the biggest news is something most of us had already realized: Infinite Heroes is over, at least as a name, but Mattel still plans to work in the 3.75 inch scale.

1) Now that Mattel has had some time to look at the viability of the Ghostbusters line, are there plans for “Great Beast” releases for some ghosts and creatures a la MOTUC?

We are looking into this. Nothing to announce right now, but there are some giant ghosts in sailor suits made of a sticky mess we’d like to get to in a big size one day!

2) Will the Green Lantern 3.75 inch toys be a continuation of Infinite Heroes style, or a new take for Mattel on the scale?

That remains to be seen. We are still gauging retailer interest in this type of line and cannot announce any details until we confirm orders from retailers.

3) On a similar note, many fans seem to be reading the somewhat cryptic Infinite Heroes news floating around and believe that Mattel might be shelving the line with the goal of starting over once Green Lantern is done. It’s obviously too early for you to announce yet, but is the Infinite Heroes style over?

The brand name “Infinite Heroes” is over for now, but the scale will go on in 2011 under a different brand name.

4) Some stores both online and off, sell Mattycollector.com exclusives figures, like the which they can cancel if they can’t fill the order, at a large mark-up or through “pre-orders” that they can cancel if they can’t get the product. While Mattel can’t stop people from doing what they will with the product they buy, what’s Mattel’s position on these retailers in their position as middleman between Mattycollector.com and the collectors themselves?

Mattel has no policy on customers reselling our product once they purchase it. Fans and consumers are welcome to open, play with, or resell our product at their discretion.

5) Last year, Mattel backed the Brave and the Bold Plastic Man and Rubberneck set with commercials and lots of promotion. What toys will be getting Mattel’s attention this upcoming holiday season?

Every year Mattel has “key drivers” but we do not discuss there ahead of time with the public. Sorry!

Now head on over to the message board to discuss!

1) It looks like the Infinite Heroes Kingdom Come Captain Atom is a Toys R Us Exclusive, at least according to the sticker seen on eBay auctions, but what’s the status of the new Captain Marvel action figure also seen on cardbacks?

There are a few IH figures that are a bit in limbo right now waiting for retailer commitments. As soon as we have confirmation of retailers interested in taking product we will announce them to fans!

2) New Infinite Heroes female articulation was shown on Ravager and Wonder Woman, but will we be seeing elbow joints any time soon?

We are looking forward to getting more articulation for both male and female figures but, again, we need retailer commitments before moving forward with more product.

3) You’ve shown the Attitubes a couple times now, but do you have any update on when a line might be available for purchase?

So far, there has only been lukewarm interest from fans. If there is enough interest we would love to move forward with these fun guys! What say you fans?

4) We already know that Green Lantern is going to be getting a 6 inch line, and at SDCC you mentioned that it’ll have a 3.75 inch presence, but will that be it for Mattel’s Green Lantern offerings?

Hardly! There will be a ton of great GL product in 2011 including some Retro Action figures announced at SDCC for Mattycollector.com. More will be announced as we get closer to the film.

5) You’ve heard it before, you’ll hear it again: what’re the chances of comic packs for any of your lines?

Always something we are looking into and an execution we did offer in the DCSH line in 2006 and 2007. No plans to revisit right now, but you never know. Stay tuned.

No new Mattel DVD pack-ins to announce, Bronze Tiger, Deadman and Robin are MIA and other Mattel news in today’s answers. Head over to the message board to pose some new questions and talk about this latest round of Mattel Q&A‘s.

1: Can we expect future Mattel pack-ins with DC’s Direct-to-DVD releases? The DC Direct PVC figures are ok, but the IH figures were very welcome.

Right now, we do not have future DVD pack-in figures planned but you never know what the future will bring!

2: Can you explain to collectors what the difference is between Mattycollector and shop.mattel.com and how shop.mattel.com interacts with Mattycollector’s occasional sale of retail product?

Shop.Mattel.com sells Mattel retail product online, Mattycollector.com sells exclusive product available nowhere else as well as some collector retail product such as DCUC box sets.

3: Do you plan to release the previously seen Brave and the Bold Action League figures (Grundy, Robin, Bronze Tiger, Deadman), or will they be folded into the new DC Universe Action League?

Right now these figures are MIA but we hope to get them into the line in due time.

4: The DC Universe Action League figures feature “kid friendly” sculpts of characters recently involved in somewhat mature storylines, for instance, Blackest Night where zombie heroes ripped the hearts out of friends and teammates, or Green Arrow and Prometheus. Who do you see as the target market for this line?

But don’t kids love zombies? At any rate, we know these are collector driven figures as well.

5: Marvel briefly explored digital content tie-ins with its’ Marvel Universe figures, and many mass toylines have found success with virtual worlds and unlockable content. Will any Mattel products be exploring these options, for instance, unlockable MOTUC secrets or DCU bios?

This is something we have looked into. Nothing to announce now, but anything is possible.

And catching up with Mattel Q&A’s… wait… IF the Infinite Heroes line continues? On with the Questions!

1) At Toy Fair we saw that Ravager (and unless we’re mistaken, Wonder Woman from the Starro pack) has the new articulation. Are there any plans to give any other female characters in the DC Infinite Heroes line the new articulation?

As we get to new figures in this scale we will incorporate all levels of current articulation and continue to always improve!

2) With the IH numbering discontinued for the 75th Anniversary packaging, will we ever find out who Figure 41, Figure 44, Figure 50, Figure 55, and Figure 57 were?

We’ll try to publish a full list of released figures in the near future.

3) Since we know that a 12″ Tytus and the C&C DCUC figures are possible, will we ever see a larger scale IH figure? More specifically, will we ever see a larger scale humanoid IH figure? Since we know (and are psyched about!) Starro will be offered at SDCC this year.

If the Infinite Heroes line continues then this would be a great way to get out some new news for the line!

4) The Action League Metamorpho is packaged as the Element Man. Is that a result of the name being trademarked, and if so, have you considered an approach like Marvel’s (i.e. calling the figure “DC’s Metamorpho”)?

The name “Element Man” was the name DC provided for this figure in package.

6) So far we know that a couple different teams are only missing a member or two, like Beast Boy/Changeling for the New Teen Titans, Kid Flash for the Flash family, Alan Scott for the JSA, Captain Cold for the Rogues, and Superboy (although he might be unavailable due to legal issues?) for the even newer Teen Titans/Young Justice. Have these absences been intentionally planned out or have they just sort of been victims of happenstance where no “right time” arose for these characters to be released?

All of these are just happenstance. No one has been initially left off the table and we do have plans to finish off these teams as soon as we can. Definitely don’t read into anything!

Now off to the message board to discuss!

Shown were Aquaman (making his Infinite Heroes debut, and sure to make this set a big seller), Martian Manhunter, Hal Jordan, Barry Allen as the Flash, and Wonder Woman. Brave and the Bold 28 was the first appearance of the Justice League of America, featuring the fabulous five-some battling the otherworldly conqueror Starro. Batman and Superman are noticeably absent, but that’s ok, we have enough of those guys, right? Mattycollector.com says there’s 4 reveals each night, with bonus reveals on Friday, April 16th when “we’ll have the complete list of SDCC products with images PLUS a couple more reveals!” No clue what’s going to be revealed, but they did drop some hints:

a couple of hints… 1) a DCU item will have a ton of accessories, and 2) we have an Avatar™ item that, for the first time, combines a 3-3/4″ figure and a 6″ figure in one package.
