Galactic Heroes Q&A’s!
First off, news from Yoda’s News that the Kamino Showdown and Purchase of Droids Galactic Heroes cinema scenes are apparently now on tap for a March 2010 release!
YN: Any word as to when we might see those missing Galactic Heroes sets? The “Kamino Showdown” and “Purchase of Droids” sets were supposed to show up at TRU stores in August hit the shelf? So far we have neither heard nor seen anything. Have these sets been cancelled? Please say NO. Thanks!
Hasbro: It’s taken a while for the previous TRU Galactic heroes Cinema Scenes to move through retail, but right now we are looking at March on-shelf. We have packaged samples ourselves so they should be shipping soon if all goes well.
Meanwhile, Han’s Hideout asks some questions about the possibility of a Galactic Heroes TIE Interceptor:
3. A question from one of my boys – Will you make a new Galactic Heroes “TIE Fighter with the bendy wings” [aka a TIE Interceptor]? Liam, Age 3.
That’s a great question. We don’t have one in the works, but it does fit the profile of a vehicle that would make a great impact in the Cinema Scene assortment. We’ll discuss it with the team. Thanks for the suggestion…tell your boy it was an excellent choice and that we hope we can make him happy. Just make sure he stays into Galactic Heroes for a few more years!
Super Hero Squad Kraven in 2010
ActionFigs.com has finally cracked the nut that is Hasbro and convinced them to reveal that Kraven is on the Super Hero Squad slate for Fall 2010. Additionally, they had some good news about the unreleased four packs, or at least the figures in those packs:
ActionFigs: Any updates on the Super Hero Squad 4-Packs that weren’t released in the United States? Winter Soldier Saga, Spider-Man Saves The Day, The New Fantastic Four, The Defenders, Secret Invasion Begins, and Secret Wars. There’s a lot of figures in those boxed sets that we’ve been wanting for a long time to fill out teams.
Hasbro: Look for these figures in our 2010 2-pack lineup…
Beast mentioned this over on the board, so head on over there to discuss this great news.
The Battle for Doom’s Castle up for pre-order
Entertainmentearth is listing the newest Super Hero Squad playset, the Battle for Doom’s Castle as a January pre-order. Eagle-eyed fans will remember that this is the set with the newest Doctor Doom sculpt, making it the first playset to give us more than just a repaint. While this is a trend fans of the playsets may enjoy, others may be put off at the thought of paying $20 for the first Doctor Doom released since Super Hero Squad Wave 3
Top 50 Super Hero Squad Multipack Poll
Continuing our ongoing series of polls, the Top 50 Super Hero Squad Multipack Poll is now live. It’s a modified version of previous polls, allowing you to vote for any combination of multi-pack, so long as it’s already been used. Basically, combinations of 4, 5, 5 with a mega-sized figure and 8 figures are posted, and you get to show your support for the combinations you would most like to see. These polls are intended as an ongoing gauge of what figures, variants and sets are currently topping your most-wanted lists.
If you haven’t already voted in the Top 100 Most Wanted Super Hero Squad Figures, or the Top 75 Most Wanted Alternate Versions, then head over and vote on those while you’re at it.
Cinema of Fear Gallery Update
Last night we added the Cinema of Fear Tiny Terrors to the gallery so you can see Freddy, Jason and Leatherface in all their tiny glory. In a related note, although they weren’t nice enough to merit gallery entry, a few days ago I snapped some quick pictures of changes in the Super Hero Squad rereleased figures. Like I said, the pictures were just quick snaps taken for the board, but they show some of the things completists need to look for when hunting these new packs, specifically Captain America’s new eyes (Red Skull’s eyes are different too, pupil circles instead of crescent moons), and the Human Torch’s new color gradient. Tombstone’s color change didn’t come out too well in the photos due to the camera’s flash, but we do have a small gallery of the packaged definitely changed Super Hero Squad rereleases. We’re hard at work with a big Marvel Universe gallery update and hope to have that up soon.
New Super Hero Squad Cruisers and The Battle For Doom’s Castle!
I posted this earlier in the day at the forum, but didn’t have a chance to front page it until now: Basically, Taobao has an auction listing for a new Super Hero Squad Cruiser, this time, Wolverine’s Claw Cruiser. It’s a new format for the vehicles, featuring a carded bubble rather than the previous style boxes, and only one figure instead of two. It’s a repaint of the Racers, but for fans of the vehicles and those looking to build their fleet, it’s good news!
And in other news, we finally know that the new Doctor Doom Sculpt is going to be included in the Battle for Doom’s Castle, the next folding playset. Feel free to discuss this over on the board!
Newsclips 11/25/09
Given the slow news week as many are settling in for Thanksgiving, I figured we’d give a quick rundown of the week’s events:
JesseVader pointed out that Sir Steve’s Guide has Galactic Heroes News, specifically Anakin’s ROTS Fighter: Attack on the Invisible Hand and Jango Fett’s Slave I: Escape from Kamino
The newly rereleased Super Hero Squad Doctor Octopus and Spider-Man 2-pack features another running change and we’re attempting to catalog the differences over on the message board
And Comics Continuum is reporting that this week’s new The Super Hero Squad Show episode, Tales of Suspense, will feature James Rhodes donning the War Machine armor.
