First Look at Marvel’s Handful of Heroes

June 7th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Handful of Heroes, Hasbro, Marvel

Entertainment Earth has a promo picture of the upcoming Handful of Heroes figures in this pre-order listing, including our first real look at the figures. Although we can’t quite identify everyone, Angel, Nightcrawler, Doctor Doom (well, what looks like Doom with Thor’s hammer Mjolnir), and Captain America are spotted. It looks like Thing is in the bottom row, with a World War Hulk era Hulk on the top and is that Strong Guy and Juggernaut? Join the discussion over on the board.

Case Revision and Pre-Order Information

Shoppers rejoice! First, Super Hero Squad Wave 14 now has it’s first revision case.

1x Spider-Man & Venom

1x Hulk & Spiderwoman

1x Captain America & Red Skull

1x Spider-Man & Electro

1x Thorbuster Iron Man & Thor

1x Human Torch & Silver Surfer

1x Wolverine & Bishop

1x Deathlok & Iron Man 2020

3x Spider-Man & Green Goblin

1x Black Spider-Man & Iron Fist

Apparently Hasbro thinks that a pack of repaints will be the big seller, and that the Hulk/Spider-Woman 2-pack and Spider-Man/Electro 2-pack need to be out. Again. With Spider-Woman already getting another figure in Wave 15. And with Rogue/Gambit and any number of other pre-packaging change two-packs still fetching pretty prices. Well… it’s an interesting move.

In other news, Handful of heroes figures are finally up for pre-order! $84.99 for a case, shipping in July, there are apparently going to be over 40 different figures in Wave 1. Still no word yet as to whether that’s 40 different figures total, or whether each figure comes in different colors like classic MUSCLE figures.

every package includes 8 miniature-sized Marvel super-heroes, a play mat, and a super secret hidden figure. With over 40 different Marvel figures to collect in wave 1, you can amass whole armies of all your favorite heroes and villains including Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Hulk, and Dr. Doom.

And Big Bad Toy Store is also putting up pre-orders for Galactic Heroes 2009 Wave 3, Revision 1 (or Star Wars Clone Wars Galactic Heroes Figures Wave 7 if you’re an Entertainment Earth follower) coming in June (with Entertainmentearth.com giving them a July date) and featuring:

1x Han Solo & Logray

1x Lando & Luke

1x Blockade Rebel Trooper & Stormtrooper

1x Death Star Droid, Mouse Droid & Chewbacca

1x 2 Jawas & R2-D2

1x Admiral Ackbar & Nein Nunb

1x Saesee Tiin & Agen Kolar (not currently pictured)

1x Commander Gree & Tarfull (not currently pictured)

1x Kit Fisto & General Grievous (not currently pictured)

1x Lt. Thire & IG88 Assassin Droid (not currently pictured)

1x Ahsoka & Goldie (not currently pictured)

1x Clone ARF Trooper & Yoda (not currently pictured)

Handful of Heroes, Marvel Heroes, and Super Hero Squad Super Battle Game

Cool Toy Review has photos of Toyfair up, and tons of new things are displayed. First, better shots of Bishop, Iron Man 2020 and other Super Hero Squad figures. Second, our first look at the Super Hero Squad Super Battle game, featuring Sabretooth and Wolverine figures in a 3d battle arena.

Next is the Marvel Heroes figures, two-packs of heroes like Punisher and Daredevil, Cyclops and Beast, and Spider-Man and Green Goblin (two varieties of the packs: Team Up for pairings, and Face Off for battles). Although we haven’t seen the exact proportions, they look to be a little smaller (given perspective and all that) than the Marvel Universe figures.

The animated Iron Man Armored Adventures 3 3/4 inch figures were also shown, featuring Iron Man, and apparently the redesigned Mandarin, along with Sabretooth and Blob 3 3/4 figures.

And the Handful of Heroes are revealed! M.U.S.C.L.E. styled (small figures, each having one color, secret figures not visible from the packaging) depictions of various Marvel characters. Hopefully over the week, we’ll get more information, such as

(1) does 120 figures mean 120 different figures, 120 different figures, if you count certain figures getting multiple colors or 120 figures, but 30 of those are Spider-Man poses?

(2) are all the figures having equal distribution, or are there certain figures that will be more rare tahn others

(3) are the packs going to be individually numbered like Ultimate M.U.S.C.L.E. was, so you know getting packs 1 through X means a full set or is it a true random lot and you simply have to buy, buy and buy to get all the figures?

I’m sure we can come up with additional questions, but lets hope more information comes before we have to ask those questions!
