Upcoming DC Animated Black Adam, Green Lantern and Batman features

July 13th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in DC Animated, Marvel Animated

Apparently the engine of DC Direct to DVD movies continues to move forward (compare that with Marvel, whose next DVD is 2011′s Thor, Son of Asgard) with a collection of the DC Showcase short films starring the Spectre, Jonah Hex and Green Arrow, together with a new film Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam, which according to Comics Continuum will run an extended 22 minutes. That, combined with the Batman Year One film (with Comics Continuum’s later update) and Green Lantern Emerald Nights, means that DC has already matched Marvel’s direct-to-DVD effort, in less time (DC started their film offerings in 2007, Marvel in 2006) and have more in the pipeline. Hopefully Jeph Loeb will be giving DC more of a challenge.

Reports of “Young Justice” from Makers of Batman:B&B

April 21st, 2010 Comments Off Posted in DC, DC Animated

CBR and MTV.com have both confirmed DC and Cartoon Network’s announcement of a Young Justice series from the makers of Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

This is great news for fans of the Cartoon Network’s current foray into the DC Universe (though it looks like there will not be continuity between the two shows)… and hopefully we’ll see yet another great toyline born from this show.

Talk about these new developments over in the forum!

More Super Hero Squad and Super Friends DVD news

While US viewers are waiting for the July 13, 2010 release date of the first volume, Canadian readers luck out with three releases according to TV Shows on DVD. Volumes 1 and 2 are scheduled for a May 4th release, while Volume 3 is scheduled for June 29th. Who knows what episodes are in what set, and whether the three Canadian releases have anything the US release doesn’t, but hopefully as we get closer the pre-order listings will fill out with more info.

Meanwhile, Super Friends Season 1, Volume 2 is scheduled for July 20. TV Shows on DVD has box art and says that these episodes, in addition to the regular appearances by Batman, Superman, Wendy, Marvin, Wonder Woman, Robin and Aquaman, will also feature “Plastic Man, The Flash, and Green Arrow”. Superman Batman: Public Enemies Best Buy Exclusive Infinite Heroes Figure

August 29th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in DC, DC Animated, Infinite Heroes

Just like Wonder Woman and Green Lantern First Flight, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies gets a Best Buy exclusive release with an Infinite Heroes action figure! This time it’s a Batman and while the picture at Bestbuy.com is pretty small, the figure apparently went with a bluer-tint cape and cowl and instead of the full-over-the-shoulders-meet-at-the-neck cape shown with The Fwoosh’s early preview of the Public Enemies set, it appears to stop at the shoulders but like I said, that picture’s pretty small. As always, feel free to discuss the new figure on the Infinite Heroes message board.

And on a related note, today we’re going on an Infinite Heroes photo shooting spree, so hopefully this weekend there will be a huge gallery update.
