More Super Hero Squad Variants

As you know we’re always looking out for new Super Hero Squad figures, and recently there’s been a flurry of potentially new figures coming from Bluesduck on eBay. He’s been a reputable seller, and there’s no indication that these figures are customs, but who knows what, if any, figures will get released. First there’s “Halloween pants Hulk”, then blue Ghost Rider and the gold Iron Men, a black and orange Spider-Man, and most recently, a white and black Venom (a la Anti-Venom, though bulky, and using the Super Hero Squad Venom sculpt). And the seller also has the drop on upcoming figures like Hercules, Odin, the Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman/Arachne/Madame Web figure, the mysterious Black Surfer and some rare figures like Nighthawk, and Gargoyle.

Think adds some insight into possible upcoming Super Hero Squad packs so looks like we might be in for some fun times ahead. Less fun, if you hate repaints, but still, it’s interesting to see the future and like always, you read it here first. Well, technically on the message board first, but still.

Super Hero Squad Customs

TheFwoosh is currently in day three of Custom Con 27 where you can see a handful of great Super Hero Squad customs by Lucretia Hall. Ripped from the pages of Shadowland, Siege, New Avengers, Uncanny X-Force and a whole bunch of other non-kid friendly heroes and villains like: a new take on the Hand Ninja, Queen Veranake, Luke Cage, Captain Marvel (Skrull), Daken: Dark Wolverine, Daredevil (Shadowlands), Black Tarantula, Iron Fist, Sentry/Void, Knight Rider (Original Ghost Rider), Shang-Chi, Fantomex.

Super Hero Squad Wave 21 Pictures

jemilynne has good news for everyone, posting a clip from this month’s Previews showing the Super Hero Squad Wave 21 figures. Thor/Hercules, Iron Man/Tiger Shark, Iron Man/Red Hulk, Spider-Man/Spider-Woman, Spider-Man/Green Goblin.

Notable absences? No Captain Americas, Wolverines, or X-Men related characters whatsoever. There’s also no Fantastic Four characters, but they’ve been missing for some time. 30% of the figures are new sculpts, and 40% are new characters, even if you have two repaints. At least it’s fresh!

Super Hero Squad Bootlegs Revealed

Thanks to some more digging by Toxin, we have more information on the “prototype” Captain America we talked about a few days ago.  As he points out the seller’s location, plastic flags, unfinished edges, and the availability of so many bright colors indicate bootleg status.   And then on a tip from RRNN, we visit Cheap Toy Land for more confirmation of the Bootlegs, as well as a good look at a few more colors and sculpts.

I’m just rounding up various topics of interest into a massive pot of post.

First: Do you see the similarities between Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Bruce Timm’s finest?  How bought Teen Titans 2… I mean, Young Justice (after all, all of the fun Titans aren’t in this show).  Join the discussion of Young Justice here.

Second: We’ve been discussing the upcoming, impending, and all highly theoretical Super Hero Squad Captain America presence.   With his moving coming up, the figures are a guarantee, but who will we get?  Toxin points us to an unusual prototype Super Hero Squad Captain America, and continues to feed discussion of who would we might see released in conjunction with the Captain America movie.  Toon’s got some pictures of the whole assortment of Captains so far, but you’ll probably need to sign up to see them.

December’s Hasbro Q&A – Super Hero Squad and Marvel Movies

And Hasbro’s Q&A came out today too!

1) Will the 3.75 inch lines of Captain America and Thor have a combination of Movie and Comic series figures like Iron Man 2 did?

Yes – the figures will be identified by “comic series” and “movie series” callouts.

2) We noticed that at NYCC, the Super Hero Squad Iron Man Armored Avenger and Thor The Mighty Avenger packs appear to be cross selling each other and are labeled as theme packs. Does this mean that 3-pack waves are going to cross over amongst various propeties, or will movies still get independant waves?

The Super Hero Squad styled 3-packs will feature characters from each movie arc. Iron Man, Captain America and Thor will each have its own variations of the 3-pack.

3) Every couple months one of these Q&A’s will ask “when will the Super Hero Squad Kraven get released?”, and in a December 2009 Q&A Kraven was listed as “in the plan” for Fall 2010. Where does he fit in the revised plan?

Unfortunately, Kraven did not make it into the 2010 line. However, we are aware of the interest in seeing him released and will take it into consideration as we plan for the future.
