Marvel Universe News Round-up
First up, Brian’s got news of the clear Vision variant, dark red Daredevil and the Marvel Universe Warpath variant hitting eBay. Then Brian’s up again with a review of the Marvel Universe Thor, winner of the Ragen’s Reviews Wave 2 poll.
And while it’s not actually Marvel Universe action figure news, Big Bad Toy Store does have a pre-order up for the upcoming Captain America army builder Minimates featuring “Hydra Pilot, Hydra Infantry, Hydra Flame Thrower, Hydra Soldier 2, and Red Skull Hydra Uniform”. Minimate collectors rejoice because it looks like the movie themed army builder packs are here to stay after Iron Man 2′s drones, and Thor’s frost giants.
Thor Movie Minimates
Heads up to Juuuggs Gotcha! for pointing out the new Thor movie Minimates two-packs featuring Thor, Loki, The Destroyer, Odin, Jane Foster and a Frost Giant, which you can see at Art Asylum. Single packs of various Frost Giants and… I’m not sure if that’s a generic Asgardian and Don Blake or what, but still, Thor single packs are also shown over at Art Asylum.
CustomCon 26 Going On Now
Head over to joeacevedo’s site and ogle all those awesome customs at the latest edition of Customcon. So far this year there’s plenty of treats, including an alternate history collection of Marvel minimates, some new Infinite Heroes Green Lanterns, and some Ducktales figures that’ll make you wish Disney would get on the ball with mining some of those great 90′s nostalgia-fests.

We did a round-up of SDCC 2010 Hasbro news yesterday, but the news keeps coming! Now there’s better pictures of Ben Reilly and Carnage (at Marvelousnews), along with Ultimate Iron Man (seen here) to join Ultimate Captain America and Ultimate Nick Fury, and oodles of new Marvel Minimates (as shown here).
Eagle-eyed readers can pick out Age of Apocalypse Cyclops, Rogue, Magneto, Sunfire, Dark Beast, Weapon X, Jean Grey and Apocalypse, along with Lizard, ice-block and 90′s armor Captain America, 6-armed Spider-Man, and even an Uncanny X-Force set featuring Psylocke’s new costume, Archangel’s X-Force costume, Deadpool’s new X-Force costume, Fantomex, and X-Force Wolverine!
SDCC 2010 Panels of Note
Saturday is shaping up to be an interesting day for SDCC 2010 attendees, so we’re giving a rundown of what we feel might be some of the more noteworthy panels.
11:45-1:15 Green Lantern— Get a first look at the upcoming sci-fi action adventure Green Lantern, directed by Martin Campbell. Green Lantern is an epic adventure that crosses galaxies to bring to life the legendary Silver Age superhero Hal Jordan, who is chosen by the ring itself to become the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps and take on the vast and powerful Parallax as it threatens to destroy the world. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Peter Sarsgaard as Dr. Hector Hammond, and Mark Strong as Sinestro.
12:00-1:00 The Venture Bros.— Creators Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer host a laissez-faire chat about—what else?—The Venture Bros. They’ll be joined by Patrick Warburton (voice of Brock Samson) and James Urbaniak (voice of Dr. Venture) as they screen sneak preview clips from the upcoming season, shamelessly plug their new DVD and line of action figures, and take questions from the audience. Great choices all, but the ice-block surrounding Silver Age Captain America, “The Captain” being a good stand-in for Avengers West Coast era USAgent and the fact that nobody else will ever make an Armored Captain America make my choices easy!
Minimates Wave 33 Revealed
Action Figure Insider has pictures of the upcoming Wave 33 Marvel Minimates. Rachel Grey as both Marvel Girl and her Excalibur costume Phoenix comes with a Sentinel, brother and “sister” Thor and Loki, and mommy-to-be Menace comes with former villain Anti-Venom.
