SDCC 2010 – Super Hero Squad and Thor Video Game Round-up!
IGN has a preview of the upcoming Super Hero Squad Online MMO with a breakdown of the Helicarier, which serves as player housing. Apparently the environment is pretty interactive, and the review mentions how characters interact with objects… Hulk can lift crates, Daredevil will use the treadmill, characters gain performance benefits from collecting or using items. The game is starting to shape up!
Meanwhile, the THQ Super Hero Squad Infinity Gauntlet video game gets a preview over at Marvel.com (although you’ve already seen the Super Hero Squad Infinity Gauntlet trailer here last week.
Meanwhile, Sega’s upcoming Thor video game also gets a spot at Marvel.com. Here’s how they describe the game:
In the game, Thor battles through the numerous worlds of Norse mythology that span realms ranging from primal worlds of fire and ice to extraordinary planets inhabited by Frost Giants and Trolls to save Asgard, the capital city of the Norse Gods. Thor must overcome monstrous foes lifted from the pages of the comics including Ulik, Ymir, and Surtur, as well as other monstrous denizens. Players will wield the iconic Mjölnir, Thor’s legendary hammer, to fight enemies on an immense scale while controlling the elemental storm powers of lightning, thunder, and wind to vanquish enemies. As Thor earns Valor points through his exploits, players can acquire new abilities, powers, and weapon upgrades.
And while we’re talking about video games, hopefully we’ll get some more details soon about the Suicide Squad video game talked about over on Robot 6. Not much is known, but the phrase hyper violent keeps getting bandied about.

Mutant X Season 1 back on DVD
Fans of Marvel’s old X-Factor replacement title Mutant X, featuring the alternate universe adventures of Havok, may have resented the syndicated Mutant X television series for stealing the name, but it had some ok moments and, unfortunately, none of the Marvel connections. Although it enjoyed a few Marvel Comics one-shots, the series was basically a universe all to its own, and then subsequently locked away. The DVDs have been out of print for a while, but, for Canadians, season 1 is coming back into print!
Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel’s Newest Cartoon
Wwwyzerd gets a tip of the hat for pointing out news of Marvel’s newest animated series: Ultimate Spider-Man to air on Disney XD. Comic Book Resources have done a little breakdown of the teaser image and point out that ultimate Nick Fury, Nova, Doctor Octopus, Iron Fist and the Green Goblin all have a silhouette, and quote Eric S. Rollman, the President of Marvel Animation as saying Spider-Man “teams up with other fan favorite Marvel Super Heroes”. Marvel Animation Age went straight to the sources for some comments, but came up empty handed, so it looks like the news on this is still pretty slim! Head over to our animation forum to discuss.
Super Hero Squad Drax, Man-Wolf, Collector and Howard the Duck!
Previews for the upcoming 4th issue of the Super Hero Squad (seen here at Newsarama) comic book show all kinds of characters that have never been seen in SHS style including Drax the Destroyer, in his classic 90′s costume, who, along with Man-Wolf are hunting characters for the Collector. Later in the preview, you’ll see Howard the Duck is one of the many characters to be abducted! Head over to the Super Hero Squad section of the message board for more discussion!
Hasbro’s Marvelman: Will They Or Won’t They?
Rich Johnston, of Lying in the Gutters fame and now of Bleeding Cool, is reporting on a Hasbro SDCC exclusive Marvelman action figure. No known source yet, no concrete info, but what is known is that Action Figure Insider’s artwork isn’t finished artwork. It’s the artwork for the Marvelman Classic Primer, and while it may end up being used for the action figure, if there IS an action figure coming, nothing is confirmed yet, specifically not the existence of the action figure. Johnston’s been wrong before, particularly when it comes to Marvelman/Miracleman
