Marvel Universe X-Force Archangel

February 7th, 2011 Comments Off Posted in Marvel Universe

After a long wait, and sky-high eBay prices, the Marvel Universe X-Force costume Archangel is finally available!  As Brian points out, head over to Marvel.com and sign-up to start the process, but be warned you need to pre-order for a year (and watch out or the recurring billing demons will stab you for another $59.88 this time next year), making it one of the pricier figures to add to your Marvel Universe collection. Or pretty cheap if you actually enjoy Marvel’s digital comics offering.

You’ve also got to pay for shipping ($5.17), fill out the certificate and get all the technicalities under way.

Marvel Universe, Spider-Man and Iron Man Action Figure News

January 26th, 2011 Comments Off Posted in Marvel Universe

This is a quick wrap-up of the latest news Brian has rounded up for the Hasbro’s Spider-Man 3.75 inch line, Iron Man the Armored Avenger and of course, Marvel Universe as well.

First off, Brian found a picture of the newest version of Venom from the Spider-Man 3.75 inch line featuring a decidedly Mac Gargan version of Venom.

Then Iron Man drops the excitement factor by presenting us with a wave of fancy armors for him and War Machine.  Didn’t a lot of these armors make an appearance in the old 90′s Iron Man cartoon?  Maybe there’s nostalgia at play.  There’s a concept Drone, but those hoping for a second shot at Mandarin, Ultimate Iron Man, or comic Whiplash are out of luck.  Maybe they’ll come in case revisions.  Anyway, Iron Man 2011 Wave 1 will have:

  • War Machine Mark II
  • Quick Change Iron Man (Mark IV to Mark VI)
  • Hypervelocity Armor Iron Man (Redeco)
  • Shield Breaker Armor Iron Man
  • Inferno Armor Iron Man
  • Iron Man Mark V (New Version)
  • Hammer Drone (Concept)
  • Deep Dive Armor Iron Man
  • Light Up War Machine
  • Space Armor Iron Man
  • Subterranean Armor Iron Man

And finally, someone on Toy Ark apparently managed to snag a carded Karla Sofen Moonstone figure from Big Bad Toy Store along with the dark Daredevil and red Warpath, so the future of the figures looks pretty good.

Marvel Universe News Round-up

January 21st, 2011 Comments Off Posted in Marvel Universe, Minimates, Uncategorized

First up, Brian’s got news of the clear Vision variant, dark red Daredevil and the Marvel Universe Warpath variant hitting eBay.  Then Brian’s up again with a review of the Marvel Universe Thor, winner of the Ragen’s Reviews Wave 2 poll.

And while it’s not actually Marvel Universe action figure news, Big Bad Toy Store does have a pre-order up for the upcoming Captain America army builder Minimates featuring “Hydra Pilot, Hydra Infantry, Hydra Flame Thrower, Hydra Soldier 2, and Red Skull Hydra Uniform”.  Minimate collectors rejoice because it looks like the movie themed army builder packs are here to stay after Iron Man 2′s drones, and Thor’s frost giants.

Toy Talk Stampede 12/7/10

December 8th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in Hasbro, Marvel Universe, Mattel

Imaginext fleshes out the Justice League with Hawkman and Flash action figures, while Killer Croc adds to Batman’s rogues, thanks to some digging by Toxin.  A little farther down that thread and ARBCOToys tells us about the Target Joker’s Fun House pack with bonus Two-Face, Joker and Riddler (with hat) figures.

We also discuss this week’s issue of Toy Fare magazine, which features a pretty spiffy version of the Destroyer armor on the cover.

Brian shows us the ninja prowess of Snake Eyes and Toxin and Jessevader team-up to tackle the mystery of the Toy Story buddies mystery figures from an SDCC poster.

Marvel Universe Toys R Us 3-Packs Reviews and Poll

December 6th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in Marvel Universe

Although Doctor Doom won the Secret Wars (or at least the poll for the best of Hasbro’s Marvel Universe Secret Wars Comic Packs Wave 4), he still has some hot competition for the best Marvel Universe figure.  This week, Brian’s back with more competition for that title in his review of the highlights of Toys R Us’s 3-packs.  Foregoing a few of the repaints, cast your vote for your favorite figure.  Are  you fired up for Firestar?  Stuck on the SHIELD agent? In love with the Iceman? Do you (heart) the Hand?  Falling hard for Hydra?  Yelping for the yellow Daredevil?  Glad there’s only 6 in this poll so I can stop with the bad jokes?

Go and cast your votes for the best of Marvel Universe’s TRU 3-Packs

December’s Hasbro Q&A – Super Hero Squad and Marvel Movies

December 1st, 2010 Comments Off Posted in Marvel Universe, Super Hero Squad

And Hasbro’s Q&A came out today too!

1) Will the 3.75 inch lines of Captain America and Thor have a combination of Movie and Comic series figures like Iron Man 2 did?

Yes – the figures will be identified by “comic series” and “movie series” callouts.

2) We noticed that at NYCC, the Super Hero Squad Iron Man Armored Avenger and Thor The Mighty Avenger packs appear to be cross selling each other and are labeled as theme packs. Does this mean that 3-pack waves are going to cross over amongst various propeties, or will movies still get independant waves?

The Super Hero Squad styled 3-packs will feature characters from each movie arc. Iron Man, Captain America and Thor will each have its own variations of the 3-pack.

3) Every couple months one of these Q&A’s will ask “when will the Super Hero Squad Kraven get released?”, and in a December 2009 Q&A Kraven was listed as “in the plan” for Fall 2010. Where does he fit in the revised plan?

Unfortunately, Kraven did not make it into the 2010 line. However, we are aware of the interest in seeing him released and will take it into consideration as we plan for the future.
