Marvel and DC NYCC Animation Rundown
Comic Book Resources has an account of Superman/Shazam writer Michael Jelenic, Gary Miereanu of Warner Home Animation, and of course, the man behind DC’s animated golden age, Bruce Timm. They discuss the upcoming Black Adam short, Batman Beyond, ad the upcoming All Star Superman video based on Grant Morrison’s story. For more on Jerry O’Connell’s run as Captain Marvel, you can also check out MTV’s Splash Page. They’ve also got a bit more of Bruce Timm discussing All Star Superman over here.
The made for TV specials falling under the Legends of the Super-Heroes banner (The Roast and the Challenge) will finally be available through Warner Brothers’ manufacture on demand offerings on October 19. These were the live action features showing Batman, Robin and a host of DC super heroes and villains from the Huntress, Hawkman and the Atom to Giganta and Sinestro.
November 26 is the Young Justice 1-hour pilot according to Newsarama. Captain Cold, Mr. Freeze, Project: Cadmus. Black Canary, Red Tornado, Zatara and Captain Marvel are going to play important roles in the show, with some mysteries coming up, such as which DC character is Artemis, where is Zatana. More interesting to some is that over 150 existing DC characters are going to appear in the first 18 episodes.
For Green Lantern, however, Bruce Timm (while speaking at the GL panel) says that the DC Animated Universe don’t converge so we won’t be seeing appearances from Batman and Wonder Woman. This version of Green Lantern will feature space vehicles, a new character Aya, and a bunch of established characters like Kilowog, Atrocitus, Ganthet, Salaak, Ch’p and Guy Gardner. The best part however is that if you scroll to the end, they mention that Mattel is doing the action figures.
While Green Lantern exists in its own continuity, all of Marvel’s upcoming G4 Marvel Anime series apparently take place in the same universe, and crossovers may be possible according to their NYCC 2010 live chat.
Now head over to the message board to discuss!

Takara Tomy Marvel Toys, Tatsunoko Anime
Apparently this fall Marvel’s going to be releasing some new toys in Japan with Takara Tomy, and perhaps more interesting is the announcement of a joint TV series by Tatsunoko, the fine folks behind the Gatchaman license. Who knows what kind of wacky crossovers can go down, or what effect this has on the previously announced anime series scheduled for 2010. A few shots of which were shown on the Incredible Hulk DVD’s trailer collection and were shown here a while ago, and are also in the gallery.
SHS animated first looks
And straight from the Incredible Hulk DVD… the Super Hero Squad screen caps. Captain America,Wolverine, Iron Man, Thor and Colossus! Also, the last three shots are the announced Marvel Anime series. Not much was shown, but not much was expected, right?
One reason to buy the Incredible Hulk on DVD…
Well, Marvel Animation Age has a little article about all the cool previews coming with the upcoming Incredible Hulk DVD release and best among them? Super Hero Squad!
In related news, the upcoming DVD release of the live-action The Incredible Hulk feature film contains a trailer for Marvel Animation Studios. The trailer contains new footage from Iron Man: Armored Adventures, as well as new footage from Wolverine and The X-Men, Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow, Hulk Versus, Black Panther Animated, Marvel Anime, and a look at designs from Marvel Super Hero Squad.
Ok, so it’s a look at designs and not full footage but still, cool enough. Footage of Marvel Anime sounds interesting too… presumably it’s going to show off at least one of the Anime initiatives talked about way back when
