August 17th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in DC Animated, Marvel Animated, Super Hero Squad

Both Marvel and DC are hitting DVD shelves hard with new and upcoming releases so we thought we’d do a little round-up of today’s news.

First off, TV Shows on DVD has the box art for the Super Hero Squad Show second volume DVD, coming out on November 9, 2010. Target shoppers know that Target has an in-store exclusive set out right now with the complete first 13 episodes of the series so that might save you some money in the long run.

Later in November, November 30th to be exact, you can pick up the Iron Man Extremis motion comic from Marvel Knights Animation and Shout! Factory.

If motion comics are your thing, The Trades has a DVD review of the Astonishing X-Men: Gifted, featuring the initial Breakworld storyline from Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men run. September 30th is the release date for that motion comic.

If you don’t feel like waiting, you can grab Batman: Brave and the Bold Season 1, volume 1, collecting the first 13 episodes on 2 DVDs and released today.

And of course, you can also complete your collection of Wolverine and the X-Men (assuming you didn’t hold out for a US release of the season set, or import one from Canada) with volume 6, also released today.

As always, head on over to the message board to discuss.

Other tidbits include: Jim Krieg is the story editor for that Green Lantern cartoon, and that Hal Jordan, Kilowog and a Red Lantern will anchor it.

In unrelated news, they’ve also posted an interview with Cort Lane regarding the upcoming second season of Iron Man Armored Adventures so head over there to view the news, and head over to our message board to discuss!

Brave and the Bold Canceled, New Batman on the Way?

July 27th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in Action League, Brave and the Bold Action League, DC Animated

SDCC giveth, and SDCC taketh away.  In the wake of oodles of fresh news about upcoming cartoons, comics and toys, one piece of surprisingly over-looked (at least amongst the “big” sites) is news that, as Comics Continuum reports, Batman: Brave and the Bold is winding down with production of the last 13 episodes.

Obviously this is sad news because the show has had lots of great fun, and even some great toy lines (like the Batman Brave and the Bold Action League figures.  Visit the link to Comics Continuum above for more information, and some fun video as “Batman” explains showbiz to “Aquaman”.  On the plus side?  “Following Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Tucker will be working on a new Batman series…”, and Diedrich Bader confirms that Wonder Woman and Superman will make appearances. The fate of the toyline is obviously in doubt, but what a fun run, and who knows what we could get next time?
