Hurrijak had the heads up on the upcoming Batman Brave and the Bold McDonalds toys. In August, McDonalds released a set of 8 Batman Brave and the Bold toys, but this time they’re going all out with the following list from Hurrijak:

Yeah.  That, my friends, is an assortment.  Think of the team-ups!  Grodd and the Gentleman Ghost.  Robin, Flash and Aquaman.  Batmite and the Riddler versus the Spectre!

Best Buy Exclusive All Star Superman Figurine

February 18th, 2011 Comments Off Posted in DC Animated

Just like they’ve done for many, many other DC direct-to-DVD movies in the past, Best Buy is rolling out an exclusive figure!  The picture’s a little small, but it looks like either Superman in the white costume solar suit from his battle with Solaris, or possibly the Kryptonian astronaut Bar-El. Can anyone provide a little more information?

Edit: Having seen the bigger picture now, it’s Superman in his solar suit, right before the battle with Solaris.

This time, for All Star Superman, it’s a white-costumed Superman.  Here’s a rundown of the previous Best Buy figures for you:

There’s also been two exclusive Infinite Heroes figures, one for Wonder Woman, and one for Green Lantern.

Timm Talks Green Lanterns

December 15th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in DC Animated

MTV’s splash page has this interview with Bruce Timm about both the Green Lantern Animated Series and Green Lantern Emerald Knights direct-to-DVD movie. Emerald Knights takes a page out of Gotham Knights and features 6 interlocking tales of the Green Lantern Corps, while the animated series will be an extensive cosmic adventure dealing with the rage of the Red Lanterns so don’t expect appearances by Superman, Batman or Wonder Woman, or the Black Lanterns for that matter, any time soon.

Toy Talk Stampede 12/6/10

December 6th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in DC Animated, Galactic Heroes, Marvel Animated, Super Hero Squad

I’m just rounding up various topics of interest into a massive pot of post.

First: Do you see the similarities between Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and Bruce Timm’s finest?  How bought Teen Titans 2… I mean, Young Justice (after all, all of the fun Titans aren’t in this show).  Join the discussion of Young Justice here.

Second: We’ve been discussing the upcoming, impending, and all highly theoretical Super Hero Squad Captain America presence.   With his moving coming up, the figures are a guarantee, but who will we get?  Toxin points us to an unusual prototype Super Hero Squad Captain America, and continues to feed discussion of who would we might see released in conjunction with the Captain America movie.  Toon’s got some pictures of the whole assortment of Captains so far, but you’ll probably need to sign up to see them.

Wrapping things up for today, Think takes us through some great ideas for modifying the recently released Galactic Heroes Senate Commando figure

Marvel and DC NYCC Animation Rundown

October 10th, 2010 Comments Off Posted in DC Animated, Marvel Animated, Marvel Anime

Comic Book Resources has an account of Superman/Shazam writer Michael Jelenic, Gary Miereanu of Warner Home Animation, and of course, the man behind DC’s animated golden age, Bruce Timm. They discuss the upcoming Black Adam short, Batman Beyond, ad the upcoming All Star Superman video based on Grant Morrison’s story. For more on Jerry O’Connell’s run as Captain Marvel, you can also check out MTV’s Splash Page. They’ve also got a bit more of Bruce Timm discussing All Star Superman over here.

The made for TV specials falling under the Legends of the Super-Heroes banner (The Roast and the Challenge) will finally be available through Warner Brothers’ manufacture on demand offerings on October 19. These were the live action features showing Batman, Robin and a host of DC super heroes and villains from the Huntress, Hawkman and the Atom to Giganta and Sinestro.

November 26 is the Young Justice 1-hour pilot according to Newsarama. Captain Cold, Mr. Freeze, Project: Cadmus. Black Canary, Red Tornado, Zatara and Captain Marvel are going to play important roles in the show, with some mysteries coming up, such as which DC character is Artemis, where is Zatana. More interesting to some is that over 150 existing DC characters are going to appear in the first 18 episodes.

For Green Lantern, however, Bruce Timm (while speaking at the GL panel) says that the DC Animated Universe don’t converge so we won’t be seeing appearances from Batman and Wonder Woman. This version of Green Lantern will feature space vehicles, a new character Aya, and a bunch of established characters like Kilowog, Atrocitus, Ganthet, Salaak, Ch’p and Guy Gardner. The best part however is that if you scroll to the end, they mention that Mattel is doing the action figures.

While Green Lantern exists in its own continuity, all of Marvel’s upcoming G4 Marvel Anime series apparently take place in the same universe, and crossovers may be possible according to their NYCC 2010 live chat.

Now head over to the message board to discuss!
