Archive for November, 2009:
He Hungers…
As I’m sure many people are aware, MU wave 6 has been hitting shelves all around the nation. What you may not be aware of is that Hasbro hid (in plain sight) a teaser of sorts on the cardback for House of M Spider-Man (aka Series 2 Figure 001). If you were lucky enough to look carefully at the cardback of Spider-Man, then you may already know what I’m talking about. For those of you who just ripped open your figure without looking very close at the cardback, let me explain.

Spider-Man cardback
Here’s the cardback. Doesn’t look too out of the ordinary on first glance, but if you look in the upper right corner where it says the figure number…

He hungers...
You can clearly see that above the figure number it says “he hungers…”. I checked all the other figures for wave 6 and Spider-Man was the only one that said this!
Now, I know that here at The Rumor Buster we’re not supposed to start or help spread rumors…but no one said anything about healthy speculation.
So, let’s speculate. Now, we know that there is a Galactus figure that Hasbro is planning to release which is 19″ tall and will have electronics in it. We know this because at the Hasbro Marvel panel at SDCC ’09 the Hasbro reps said, “…it will have electronics in it so you’ll be able to hear your Galactus speak.” Another panelist then promptly said, “I hunger…” for the Galactus figure.
The cardback clearly says “he hungers…” which leads me think that they’re alluding to Galactus (since he is famously known for being hungry) with this cryptic message. When asked (in various Q&As) about the Galactus figure shown at Comic-Con, Hasbro has been very guarded about its details.
So, do you think that Galactus will be released sometime this year? If so, will he be in a normal Gigantic Battles pack or will he be some sort of exclusive? Whatever your opinion, come talk about it on the board!
Super Hero Squad Blind Packs
Beast pointed out ActionFigs.com’s news about Super Hero Squad blind pack figures. Not much is known, but here’s the rundown so far:
And that’s about it. Will these end up like the Galactic Heroes Italian puzzle cards? Are they coming to the US? What’s the price point? When will they be released? Right now, there’s more questions than answers, but hopefully more information will come soon. In the meantime, jump over to the board to discuss.
Iron Man Armored Adventures Vol. 2
TV Shows on DVD had news of Amazon.com’s pre-order of Iron Man Armored Adventures volume 2. Scheduled for Jaunary 5, with an MSRP of $16.95, fans of the show should be pretty excited to continue their collection.
New Super Hero Squad Show Airdates
Just a quick update as to upcoming The Super Hero Squad Show air dates, here’s the current list of episode air dates according to TV Guide:
Sat, Nov 7 9:30am
Tue, Nov 10 9:00am
Wed, Nov 11 9:00am
Thu, Nov 12 9:00am
Fri, Nov 13 9:00am
Fri, Nov 13 6:00pm
Sat, Nov 14 9:30am
Sun, Nov 15 8:00am
Of course, the problem is that there’s no episode titles yet, and other TV listing places aren’t showing the Super Hero Squad Show on their schedules. So right now, if TV Guide is right, it’ll get a week of 9 a.m. showings with a primetime showing on Friday and a new 9:30 time slot starting next week. Hopefully as we get closer more information on those episodes, as well as confirmed times, will be available. As always, we’ll keep you updated with more information as it becomes available.
Rumorbuster 2.5?
As you can no doubt see, we’ve finished rolling out our fresh new look, but we’ve got a few new features to talk about too!
First, we have to thank Livedog for the new logo, Clanure for the new gallery layout, and really_rather_not_nice for the idea of isolating links to the Board, gallery and Wiki. Now, onto some of the new features!
(1) The front page should now display a list of recent message board topics, right above the latest wiki edits. Previously, each individual front page post had a list of recent message board posts, but other than those that read us through RSS readers and whatnot, most people were just coming to the front page and not really seeing that what stuff we were discussing over here.
(2) The gallery has been streamlined. Gone are the columns and endless pages of thumbnails. We have a few more tweaks to make, but right now, the photos are categorized first by toy line, and then going into the toy line you can see the sub-serieses or individual waves. Also, the thumbnails are bigger, so you can get a better idea of what you’re looking at.
(3) Individual figure voting on the Rumorbuster Wiki! Each figure has a mini-poll attached to it so you can help rate individual figures. Visiting the Wolverine Super Hero Squad page, for instance you’ll see that each figure has a poll to the right where you can vote it. Same for Combat Heroes, Robot Heroes… all the Heroes lines! And eventually, it’ll come to the other toy lines too. A few votes have already been cast, but more votes are always welcome so be sure to vote when you visit!
(4) Galactic Heroes joins the rest of the Hasbro Heroes! Clanure’s already begun the arduous and thankless task of getting pictures of the Galactic Heroes and in addition to that, he’s also worked out a lot of the kinks in the Galactic Heroes checklist
So that’s a handful of the bigger changes, but there are some other features hanging around, and even a handful that aren’t fully implemented yet. As you can see, we’re still innovating and evolving, and we have no intention of stopping any time soon. It’s entirely possible that this time next year, you’ll be looking back at how quaint the Rumorbuster was back in the day, and if nothing else, we need to keep giving other sites new ideas.
If you’ve come across any of the other new features, feel free to mention them. Either it’s something that we’re still working on, or it’s something I’ve forgotten to mention, but either way, we look forward to comments, critiques and best of all suggestions.
