The Batman Brave and the Bold Action League gallery (Brave and the Bold Action League checklist available here) has been updated with the first batch of Brave and the Bold Action League single packs, specifically Green Arrow, Blue Beetle and Batman. For those interested, here’s a Green Arrow comparison, Blue Beetle comparison, and a boatload of Batman figures. More gallery updates coming soon!

New Super Hero Squad Cruisers and The Battle For Doom’s Castle!

November 30th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Hasbro Heroes, Super Hero Squad

I posted this earlier in the day at the forum, but didn’t have a chance to front page it until now: Basically, Taobao has an auction listing for a new Super Hero Squad Cruiser, this time, Wolverine’s Claw Cruiser. It’s a new format for the vehicles, featuring a carded bubble rather than the previous style boxes, and only one figure instead of two. It’s a repaint of the Racers, but for fans of the vehicles and those looking to build their fleet, it’s good news!

And in other news, we finally know that the new Doctor Doom Sculpt is going to be included in the Battle for Doom’s Castle, the next folding playset. Feel free to discuss this over on the board!

Black Friday Shopping Deals

November 27th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Hasbro, Mattel

In a very Black Friday appropriate post, we’ve got a pair of great deals for you. First off, Toxin pointed out that sale.mattel.com (with some great retail Mattel stuff like Brave and the Bold Action League 2-packs and singles, the big 5 inch BatB figures, Avatar and Secret Saturdays figures) has free shipping, which, is just an awesome way to catch up or get started with some great sets.

Hasbrotoyshop doesn’t have as good a deal, but $4.99 flat rate shipping is still a great deal!

And then there’s the Matty Collector sale on DC stuff (DC Universe Classics, Infinite Heroes AND Justice League Unlimited). And since Mattycollector is home to all those great exclusives like the DCUC Adam Strange and Starfire, Romat-Ru and Karu-Sil, Alexander Luthor and Ultraman, the IH Crisis set with Monitor, Supergirl, Barry Allen and Psycho Pirate and all those JLU sets (Doom Patrol! Legion of Super Heroes! Gotham City Villains! Captain Marvel Family!) it’s a great chance to pick up all those keen sets.

Just in time for holiday gift giving, we’re running a “buy more, get more” promotion. Basically, buy two or three DC Universe products and get 15% off your order; buy four or more products and get 25% off! Here are the details:

* Buy any two or three products from any DCU line and get 15% off those products.

* No code needed — discount automatically applied at checkout!

* Discount applies to product purchase price only and does not apply to shipping costs or taxes/fees.

* Sorry, this promotion can’t combined with other offers and isn’t valid on previous purchases.

We’re talking every set and every figure from the entire DC Universe lineup — DCU Classics, Justice League Unlimited, and DCU Infinite Heroes! So what are you waiting for? Get yourself over to the DCU shop before this limited-time promotion ends on Monday 12/7!

Newsclips 11/25/09

November 25th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Galactic Heroes, Hasbro Heroes, Marvel Animated, Super Hero Squad

Given the slow news week as many are settling in for Thanksgiving, I figured we’d give a quick rundown of the week’s events:

JesseVader pointed out that Sir Steve’s Guide has Galactic Heroes News, specifically Anakin’s ROTS Fighter: Attack on the Invisible Hand and Jango Fett’s Slave I: Escape from Kamino

The newly rereleased Super Hero Squad Doctor Octopus and Spider-Man 2-pack features another running change and we’re attempting to catalog the differences over on the message board

And Comics Continuum is reporting that this week’s new The Super Hero Squad Show episode, Tales of Suspense, will feature James Rhodes donning the War Machine armor.

Galactic Heroes AT-AT News

November 17th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Galactic Heroes, Hasbro Heroes

Jessevader08 brought this up over on the message board, but Yakface.com’s recent Q&A with Hasbro revealed that the Galactic Heroes AT-AT is on tap for Fall 2011! It also talks about the possibility of some clone wars vehicles like the Vulture Droid, AAT Tank and Anakin’s Twilight Spice Freighter (which, they say, “remains too big to tackle”).

More Super Hero Squad Hero Up Package Details

November 17th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Super Hero Squad

Hopefully we’ll have a chance to do a full photo shoot soon, but in the meantime enjoy these quick photos of the difference between the new “Hero Up” package Spider-Man/Electro and Spider-Woman/Hulk sets and their original offerings. As you’ll see, Spider-Man has the most drastic color change, but Electro, Spider-Woman and Hulk are all given a darker paintjob than their original versions.

Brave and the Bold Action League Wave 3

November 17th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Brave and the Bold Action League

Wave 3 of the Batman Brave and the Bold Action League figures is out in stores. This time out, the wave has 5 2-packs:

Doctor Fate and Wotan
Blue Bowman and Owlman
Batman and the Top
Batman and the Joker
and finally, Batman, in his medieval armor, and Etrigan the Demon.
The Brave and the Bold Action League checklist has been updated to reflect the new release, so head on over to the board to discuss!

SHS Electro Packaging Change

November 16th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Super Hero Squad

In a freshly restocked Target toy aisle I came across the first Super Hero Squad set to use the Hero Up tagline: the Wave 9 Spider-Man/Electro set. A quick search of eBay shows that the Spider-Woman/Hulk and Spider-Man/Venom sets have also been re-packaged with the new tagline (and 2009 copyright language at the bottom of the cardback) but the Spiral and MODOK sets still haven’t surfaced on eBay. Still, MOC and package variant collectors should take note and start shopping. Jump over to the board to discuss.

Edit: After a quick comparison, it does indeed look like Hero Up Electro is darker than the original Wave 9 Electro. No word yet on whether the other two Hero Up re-releases have repaints or not.

GI Joe Enlisted in Fight For Happy Holidays

November 11th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Hasbro

As you all know, it’s the time of year when Toys For Tots bins start appearing all over and we the shoppers have a better opportunity to share our hauls with others. This year, Hasbro, Toys For Tots and Dennis Quaid (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra’s General Hawk) have announced a great initiative, pledging to donate one new toy (with a minimum value of $3.99) for every G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra toy sold between Thursday, November 11, 2009 and November 26, 2009. They’ve capped the donation at 300,000 toys, but that’s a lot of smiling faces, and at $3.99 each, almost $1.2 million in potential gifts. So now you have extra incentive to pick up those Covergirl and Agent Helix figures you’ve always wanted, or a good reason to buy another Snake Eyes. Feel free to discuss over on the board.

The Super Hero Squad Show Ratings

Apparently the Super Hero Squad Show is doing well… Marvelousnews has a piece about the prime-time same-day airings of new episodes, while Animated Superheroes points to a piece about the Super Hero Squad Show’s early ratings.
