Super Hero Squad Super Sucks?

April 13th, 2009 Posted in Super Hero Squad

Apparently a lot of people are upset about the rumored demise of the Mini-Marvels strips.

Just check the comments for this week’s Comic Book Legends Revealed for such wit as “YOU SUCK, SUPER HERO SQUAD!!!!!!”, “I repeat: YOU SUCK, SUPER HERO SQUAD!!!!!”, “YOU SUCK SUPER HERO SQUAD!”, “SUPER HERO SQUAD = CRAP. Plain and simple.” and “Mini-Marvels is pretty entertaining. What is Super-Hero Squad? A square-ass, dumb-ass marketing plot. What a stupid move.”

Of course, the article’s got it’s own inaccuracies (“So as you might imagine, Marvel has begun working the Super Hero Squad characters into comic strips in Marvel Comics, as well” and “And they have strips on Marvel.com often (is it weekly?)”)

It’s funny that people love the Mini-Marvels so much, but just as Marvel seemed to worry about, people keep confusing the two and have been reporting on the strips “running” in Marvel comics since… well… since that MSN report. There was one house ad (possibly more, but I can only track down the one ad) for the one-shot, which ended up as a collection of SHS strips, and that ad contained some of the strips that were included in the book. The whole often/weekly thing we’ll chalk up to mis-understanding as the author must have realized as he was clicking through the pages to grab some examples that the strips are daily, well, week-daily, with the exception of a month long break from February 24 through March 24

But never fear! Jeph Loeb confirms that the Mini-Marvels Hulk strip continues!

Of course, not everyone can be as politically correct when talking about the Mini-Marvels/Super Hero Squad conundrum. Take this site calling Super Hero Squad “mierda sin alma” (translate at your own risk), or the current SHS related posts on Twitter.

Personally, I think there have been some chuckle worthy strips lately.
