Amanda Waller coming to the Justice League

December 28th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in Justice League Unlimited

Matty Collector has a preview photo of Amanda Walller (aka, the Wall), coming (hopefully) soon to the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited line. For those with Kay B Toys nearby, depending on how early you went, and how backed up the supply, you may have been able to walk away with a nifty collection of JLU 3-packs for $6 this past week!

Cool Toy Review’s December Hasbro Q&A

December 20th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in Uncategorized

And another Q&A, this one from Cool Toy Review teases some upcoming Super Hero Squad figures:

Cool Toy Review: The Super Hero Squad line is still very popular, and I can’t wait to see what characters get the cute & cuddly treatment next. Any hints of who is on deck?

Hasbro: How about this – a current Thunderbolt and a former Avenger who’s status was active on both coasts. Discuss amongst yourselves.

So let the speculation commence! Avengers active on both coasts? Tigra, Scarlet Witch, the previously teased Wonder Man. Current Thunderbolts? Pre-Dark Reign or post? Is that counting the Green Goblin from City in Crisis?

Actionfig’s Hasbro Q&A

December 20th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in Uncategorized

The Actionfigs.com December Hasbro Q&A is one of the surprisingly most informative Q&A’s I’ve seen from Hasbro. Short story: Winter Soldier and City in Crisis weren’t canceled but delayed because “There simply isn’t enough room at retail for these and the Iron Man Squad 4 packs.” Collector’s Pack 2 won’t be joining HTS soon, but should be reaching more stores, March 2009 is still the Marvel Universe launch date. They also tease a Wonder Man Super Hero Squad figure, and that “something skrullish” is planned for the upcoming Marvel Universe figures.

Q&A’s Gone Bad!

December 19th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in Uncategorized

Another Hasbro Q&A, this one from Super Hero Times. A lot of the material is standard Hasbro Q&A (there may be more Marvel Legends, but they’re working on it, there may be more Icons if the next sets sell well) and they also give their token line about how the Marvel Universe is all about possibilities and the chance to offer great characters, they just go about it the wrong way. Read this excerpt:

Some fans fear the new 3 3/4″ Marvel Universe line will include figures of character who have yet to receive the 6″ Marvel Legends treatment. What are the chances fans who’ve waited years for their favorite 6″ Marvel Legends figure will only receive the character figure in the new 3 3/4″ Marvel Universe line?

Real agents of SHIELD have no fear! We’re having some fun putting characters into the Universe lineup that will take fans by surprise sothere’s definitely a chance that some haven’t yet had their day in the 6″ sun.

That’s right fans of Marvel Legends… those of you afraid that MU will get characters not available in Marvel Legends size should not fear because… there’s definitely a chance MU will get characters not available in Marvel Legends size.

Marvel Universe’s Big Bang

December 19th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in Uncategorized

As promised, Hasbro updated the Marvel page with news of waves 2 and 3 of Marvel Universe.

Wave 2

  • Captain America (who looks pretty Ultimate with those boots and the lack of earwings)
  • Green Goblin
  • Green Hulk
  • Gray Hulk
  • Ronin
  • Iron Fist
    and Wave 3

  • a new Punisher (black gloves and the rocket launcher is black as opposed to the gray one shown in Toyark’s review
  • Black Costume Spider-Man
  • the Thing
  • and a classic costume Iron Man (3 waves in and we have just as many Iron Men?

Go enjoy the carded pictures and remember to save your pennies because these guys are coming quick and looking at the “fish scales” on Green Goblin, the veins on Hulk, Captain America’s chain mail… these figures are really putting the pressure on Infinite Heroes 1-body-fits-all mentality. And another thing, Mattel… look at Ronin’s swords or Green Goblin’s pumpkin bomb… I give you a lot of slack when it comes to not including accessories with figures, but when an accessory is necessary for the character, make it look good! You guys can do so much better than Green Arrow’s gooey, bendy bow!

  • And another Q&A

December 18th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in Marvel Universe, Super Hero Squad

Kastors Korner also has a Hasbro Q&A up. What’s special about Marvel Universe Punisher? Hasbro’s not saying, only that some boards have guessed it (all I’ve read about the Punisher is that early reviews peg him as the worst of the first 4 figures), and 2009 is apparently so filled with fan favorite Super Hero Squad figures Hasbro will have to work hard to fit Kraven in.

No Hal Jordan Infinite Heroes variant?

December 18th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in Infinite Heroes, Mattel

Despite the product listing on sites like Big Bad Toy Store stating “2x Hal Jordan, Black Canary, Green Arrow (Hal Jordan Classic Outfit randomly in 20% of cases)”, Mattel’s Q&A with Action Figure Insider says that the only actual variant is the Lex Luthor with blond/brown hair Troopers, and apparently confirming that Jay Garrick and Bizarro are not variants of earlier sets but rather new sets featuring re-packed characters (confirmed by those eBay auctions a few weeks back.

That’s good news for those having trouble finding the Green Lantern set period, let along trying to find a variant. Now if only the Question variant wasn’t so hard to grab, or any figure outside of Wave 1 for that matter.

In other Infinite Heroes news, Big Bad Toy Store did put up a listing for the Teen Titans set, due out in February according to them, with the following information

This new six pack of figures includes the following figures:
    1x Raven (fan-requested re-release)
    1x Cyborg (new version)
    1x Robin (new version)
    1x Arsenal (new version)
    1x The Brain (new version)
    1x Mallah (new version)
    Product Number: MAT11449
    Shipping Weight: 1.40 pounds

The listing also has artwork depicting the characters (and looks pretty good to boot, and close to the prototypes we’ve already seen). Now, Mattel calling Raven a “fan-requested re-release” is a bit of a stretch, Mallah and the Brain look great, and the $29.99 pre-order price is actually pretty reasonable!
